Priority setting

Post by Andy »

If I go into windows task manager, will I notice a faster compile if I switch q3map.exe to abovenormal, or high priority setting? Of course I will have to completely abondon my computer till its finished, but will it be worth it?

I often do the opposite: "below normal". Takes very littlre extra time, and I can play a clan match while compiling :)

My vis is jumping like 1% per hour and only getting worse. I have taken my first step into a larger world....

I use -fast for vis. Because the only differance between -v an -fast is that the bsp file is a little smaller when you get done with -v.

Another quickie is to simply not do VIS and light compile at all. During development, you often "just want to see it" and by only doing the BSP compile you can take a look. ( it will look a bit flat, but it is a quick look ).

Uhm -v just means 'verbose' = extra text output when compiling. The end result should (hopefully) not be any different :?

In my experience using -fast is pretty much the same as skipping the vis stage altogether, except that it now makes a .vis file so mohlight can compile radiosity (which you will never notice anyway).
