Afternoon, dooguesgoober4.

Check your PMs for info on where to download the map from.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Afternoon, All.
I release the map.
dooguesgoober4 will supply the link to the current map, momentarily.
Don't forget that large sections of plain wall are just there to stop yourself from falling off the map. Feel free to delete/replace them any way you see fit.
As mentioned before regarding these community maps:
Everything is modifiable.
Detailed structures/rooms cannot be deleted without original creators permission, however that doesn't stop you from improving/ moving/ rotating/ adding-to what's already there.
What was done:
*The first set of stairs you see when spawned was completely recreated. The brushes making it up had textures on all sides, plus it was difficult to see the stairs as the texture was identical to the backing wall. So I added some wooden planks on top of each step.
*Extended the forecourt area and added an entry-archway (no doors yet).
*Created a tower opposite the original one, however this one is a wee bit taller :P . Please note that grenades can be thrown through the tower's little windows (great for ridding those pesky snipers).
I've left a spare doorway from the tower for someone (myself, if no takers) to extend access to/from it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note: I don't actually like the idea of people claiming the map before it's released back to the community. It just means everyone will have to keep tabs on who claimed-it-when; and if the person doesn't check this thread everyday, we all might end up waiting a week for a "release" when no-one was actually working on it :? .
*Just my opinion.

If Snipes has the map next, could he make a post "I claim the map" so that everyone knows someone has the map?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I guess it would be fine for people to create prefabs for insertion? It might help speed up development if people could work on their prefabs and just add them (and then modify/ move/ rotate/ etc) to the map when it becomes available?
Cheers,
Scronty
Thanks Scronty....i am in the process of putting the file into a .pk3 and adding a small readme file to where all the editors can post their additions/fixes.....file should be up a little later tonight
And i totally agree with your comment on claiming the map.....whoever claims the map first after it is released by the former owner, that person has it for the next week at max....happy claiming!
Afternoon, All.
I claim the ....
Just kidding :wink: .
Anyhooo...
People might have noticed the crappy vis with that tower I added :? .
When you're out in the open, the whole friggin' thing is being rendered (type r_showtris 2 into console).
Changing the stairs back in to structural brushes helps a bit, however the little windows ( and doorways) still allow quite a bit of the internal brushes to be seen (as you'd expect).
I've been playing around with using hint brushes and have improved it a little, but not much.
Has anyone used hint or vis brushes on complex structural buildings?
I've seen the info regarding plain zig-zag corridors, however it's not much use on something with stairs and windows all over the place on separate Z :? .
Might have to wait and see the direction this map goes, and see where parts of the tower/s can be modified to improve vis (i.e. if one side of the tower will never be seen during play, then the windows on that side could be removed).
Cheers,
I have used vis_leafgroups on a lot of my buildings in maps, and I do it like so-
I make the vis brushes inside of the buildings, and edit them to fit flush with the walls, so everything inside the building will be inside the vis box, but the structural brushes (walls, floors, ceiling) will not.
Well, that depends on what kinda spring break you're talkin about. If you're neer Florida, USA. Put the map away, and step lively to the beaches. There you will get enough entertainment for all of us. :wink: :shock: :shock: 8-) 8-)
Yeah Ive noticed this....I cannot seem to find any pages or anything where I can post up the file and get a better bandwith. All the sites I try dont allow file sharing or whatever.
So if anyone can host the file for me and everyone else, pm or instant message me so I can send you the file, puhleeeez!!!!! :)
EDIT ~ If I remember correctly.....Scronty, you said that you had plenty of bandwith and space to me in a pm....you still up for hosting the file?????
Afternoon, dooguesgoober4.
Yep. Not a problem.
The download url is here:
http://www.scrontsoft.com/mohaa/User-dm_Sanubia.zip
If you have XP and don't want IE to open the zip inside the browser, then go here:
http://www.scrontsoft.com/mohaa/mohaa.htm
and "right-click", "save-target-as..." over the User-dm_Sanubia.zip link.
I've also uploaded the Storage-Facility map.
Cheers,
Scronty
