BSP troubles

Post by lizardkid »

hmm. i hate these stupid weird questions i always post.

well, for some reason i can't compile a map successfully. the script is okay, the .map is as far as i know, okay. i haven't done anything illegal there, but for some odd reason, when i manually hit BSP (on the top toolbar) and go to BSPALL, it goes through it's little motions, and doesn't copy the bsp to the destination or never finishes and quits. it takes half the time usual and nothing happens. i've tried MBuilder, but it generates errors too and quits. it does all my regular AA maps though.
I'M SO DANG LOST!!!!
oh, i'm using SH for this.
i've left my project settings at default, they used to work before about two days ago when it suddenly stopped working.
i can't find any of the files (.pth, .lin, .bsp etc) in the folder where i keep my SDK. (in My Documents, if that matters)

my searches came up with nothing, so i'm not sure if i'm insane or if everyone is secretly hiding their same inability to generate .bsp's. :?

probably the path betwenn ur compiler and the game was broken .in mbuilder, try seting the game directory 2 the folder which contains the moh_spearhead.exe (again if necessary)
also choose the compiler directory 2 the compiler (q3map.exe)
and the maps directory to the folder u want 2 find the (.pth, .lin, .bsp etc) .
using the builtin compiler sometimes gives unexplainable errors like these .so use mbuilder isntead .
if that doesnt work than u should be more specific as 2 what errors ur getting from mbuilder

The problem is in your map, not the compile. An error is causing the first compile to fail, so the other files will not be made.

For MBuilder:

You can make seperate logs for all steps, or just the one you need. Click on "change" and put the code after your compile options. The text file can have any name you wish.

-v > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_bsp.txt

-v > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_vis.txt

-final > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_light.txt

I have them going to my desktop, so they can be trashed easily after looking them over. But, your path to the desktop may be different. Also, using these logs, nothing will be printed to the DOS window during the compile.
