The spotlight texture is probably a tga w/ mask. But you can see the base, right? Don't worry, your spotlight is there. Try to click on the place the spotlight suppose to be and you'll select it.

I guess...

Maybe its a filter...Go to view/filter...worth a try. (there is a light filter)

Once i dont know how but a filter for detailed brushes got turned on and I though I lost half my map. Then I realized...filters...detail filter was on...whew I can breath again.

Try to compile AGAIN and see if the spotlight shows up.

thats the problem they show up in the map when i go in , I cant find them in Radient though they arent showing there anymor, so i cant adjust them, they shine straight out in map and i wanted to make them shine down, so i went back into radient to adjust them i cant locate them or get them to show up i even held the shift key down and waved my cursor in the general area that they should be in it lighted up everything around there but no light , i put new post in they are sticking partially out of the ones i ahd already placed but yet the first ones still wont ahow up to adjust in radient, but the new ones i put in do? Is this one of those you have to start all over again things cuz if it is i may have to throw the computer out the window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Too much done to have this happen now, i even did the box around the area where the light are and di the select inside option......No lights, please help

error

Post by tltrude »

Most likely there is an error in your map that is causing the .map file to not fully load. Your spotlights may now be an untextured box in the center of the map. The best way to fix it is to open the .map file with Wordpad. The entities will be at the bottom of the page and, if your lucky, you can spot the problem entity and repair or remove it from the text.

I had a problem with quotes around a message value for a trigger that caused half my entities to vanish in the editor.

its not a light filter, its an entity filter .
light is an entity after all.if the lightposts arent showing up 2mthen u must have the filter on
if it isnt, try activating it and deactivating it.
also do that with the static models/entities (cant remember which, but it had static in it :D )

sometime filters say they are off but arent actualy off.
try the filter all button to filter everything, then use filter all again to put it back.

filters

If all the filters are off, it will say "- Filters: <None>" at the very top of the editor's window.

Actually I think he ment a filter says its off when it is really on. Also like Tom said a quote in a value field of an entity may screw up the entities below it (in the actually file).
