Compiling problem

Post by Headshot »

I've been having trouble with a map I'm trying to compile. Whenever i try to compile it, and this is with every map, it gives the error message "Matchtoken( "{" ) failed at line 54 in file scripts/allied_soviet_sniper_camo.shader" and then another error message saying it cant find the bsp file, which doesn't and shouldn't exist. I checked through all my pk3s, and i was unable to find any allied_soviet_sniper_camo.shader

must be a custom pk3 .remove all ur custom maps and mods from the main folder and try .it should work ,but if it doesnt than the error must be in ur pk3 .if the error was solved ,then try to go thru the pk3s and try to get the faulty pk3 and remove it (if u want)

Perhaps you extracted the contents of a pk3 into your main? Do you have directories named "global", "scripts", "textures", "ubersound" or "iu" in your main dir?

i just have 6 folders: configs, maps, save, screenshots, sound and video. i think this problem might have something to do with the vietnam mod, i installed it the other day, but now it's uninstalled

doesn't the } error have something to do with missing a } or { or an extra one in the shader, double check your shader...

tell a lie, the file does exist, i found it. but, i have fixed it and it still doesnt work! it was in stalingradaddons, in case anyone had this problem

i have spent time working out how to compile without mbuilder, but i found out it works in exactly the same way. this shader file is driving me mad! the damn thing isnt even in the main folder! its in my documents! why the hell wont it work?! there isnt any logic behind this!

please, someone tell me why the compiler is responding to an error that doesnt exist in a file that isnt anywhere near the game route?

oh maybe your paths are set wrong when you compile? :? Also the thing being in my documents would have nothing to do with the compile, unless you've goofed the paths then it could be trying to use my documents as the game path... :?

no, the paths are correct, im not using mbuilder because i wanted to see whether it would work if i compiled the map in the normal way, and now mbuilder isnt working, so im goin to stick with q3map and mohlight

hmm... I can't tell you, sorry  Well you use q3map and mohlight when you use mbuilder, just not automatically...

Are you using the wrong version of the compilers perhaps? It sounds like youy have Spearhead or breaktough installed... maby you are using the wromg radiant install? There is one for AA and one for SH/BT.

its always helpful to know that no bug can escape a reformat :P

-ok,lets suppose the mod inserted some files in the pak#.pk3 files for some unknown reason ,so did u try checking there?maybe uninstalling it would have left some reminent files here and there.
and the file in my documents shouldnt be bothering u.
-maybe u should put the fixed shader back in the game directory so it can confuse the compiler on which shader 2 select ,the invisible one u cant find or the repaired one.maybe it will choose the one u fixed  .
-and try to take a log of what the compiler is saying and post it here, maybe u confused it with some other file or something

i cant think of any other solutions right now :? :?

Ehh... I assumed so, but I have no real facts available as I don't own any of them...
