SH (SDK) maps versus AA (Radiant) maps!

Post by Krane »

1) SDK and Radiant are 2 different programs, is that correct?

2) If yes, is it possible to start a map in SDK and finish in Radiant?

3) Is there any BIG advantage in SH maps? I see in my AA Radiant, when I have my mainta folder inside teh MOHHA folder (I usualy take it out when I'm mapping for AA), some other feautures, but nothing that justify mapping for SH

The new weapons are cool but, if you make a AA map, it will run in SH...

You can use the ver of radiant that came with the SDK for both but change the name of the mainta directory or move it to make AA maps less likely to accidentally use SH stuff in a AA map . The biggest difference is that the ver of radiant that came with the SDK can do maps for both . Just make sure you use the AA complilers that came with mohaa tools to compile your AA map not the compilers that came with the SDK .

tltrude: Thanks, thanks, thanks.

I actualy don't map for SH. I was helping a guy w/ his map 'til I realize it's for SH...

bdbodger: Let me see if I understood. If I use SDK w/o using the "new" feautures, it will be an AA map (just have to be carefull)?

And if I compile a map made in SDK and simply compile using MBuilder (or should be the radiant compiler?), for ex, it will be an AA map?

I don't know if he's using SH feautures, i was wondering if we can "convert" this map to AA (I didn't even ask him, just wondering).

Thanks, m8s! :D

Another question:

Can I open a SH map file in the AA Radiant?

And, after the modifications, if I save the file, it still will be a SH map file or I'm turning it into a AA map file?

The only real difference in the mohradiant that came with the SDK and the one that came with mohaa tools is the in the SDK ver it won't crash if you add Spearhead models to the map . In the SDK ver you can see what the Spearhead models look like . I use the SDK ver for all maps AA and SH ( when I made SH maps I don't any more ). I have the compilers for both in different directories all I do is change the compiler directory in mbuilder to make a SH map instead of a AA map and when I make maps for AA I rename the mainta directory to xmainta so the models don't show up in mohradiant .

Thanks!

Hmm...the models....I have to check...Anyway, I'll try to open this SH map file in my AA Radiant and see if it crashes.

btw: when you say "SH models", that means the models that are "added" by the SH game itself, right? Coz a SH map is probably consisted of a group of the AA models AND the SH "trouble" models...correct?

Yeah, the new models that ship with SH but aren't included in AA...

it is mainly the ai's from SH that crash the old radiant . If you need to you can set show models as bounding boxes only . That will stop the crash but you won't see what the ai's look like .
