Bots 2 Beta Released!

I decided to put together a small beta of the newest bots version I'm working on, creatively named Bots 2. In fact, it's a completely new project which isn't based on the older bots at all and should allow for much greater variety and better bot tactics. The greatest advantage yet probably is that it's fully server-side, so you can safely run it on a server without fearing clients won't be able to connect.

Currently they only work on The Hunt, but later I'll hopefully get them to work on any map. Well anyway if you want to see it for yourself you can grab the beta here.

i just played it

AND IT ROCKS!!! :D :D

the only problem on mine is that most of the death animations dont work but hey, these bots are lamost smarter than the ai in the singleplayer missions!

i appluad jv_map and his jv_bots!!!

i know im going to enjoy this for a long time to come!! (specifically until the next bots 2 comes out!!)

Glad you like it :D

The problem with the death animations is I think that the bot switches to the anim/killed.scr animscript when killed, and when a bot switches animscript the flaggedanimdone event is sent immediately, instead of waiting till the anim actually is done :?

I'll guess I'll just have to make a small 'hack' in my bsm.scr to fix it :)

but still i kind of see what your saying. you mean the bot is going straight to dead instead of dying.

Well if I'm correct you kinda ripped bodybagger's map without giving appropriate credit :?

Anyways this is just a beta to show the possibilities of the new bots, i.e. the objective was not to make bots for the hunt but to develop a new generation of bots that is more challenging than the old ones and can easily be added to any map.

whihc i belive you succeeded at,

before i could kill all my teammates and still kill all the enemy bots, this one i tried it and found my match. 8-)

Definately :) his way of spawning pathnodes finally gave me the alternative for the new bot pathfinding algorithm I developed long ago, but which was terribly slow :( .... now I don't need it any longer :)

i have a question....

would this addon work in sp maps?
since these bots are (i think) better than the ai in the sp maps, and i read in the readme that the sp ai wouldn't work, so would this addon work in custom-made maps? or could it be configured for it?

Well... it wouldn't be impossible but still a damn lot of work... I think there are more efficient ways to make sp AI more effective (or realistic) :)
