so far 100% of those ppl love it!!!

seriously mj, i don't see why you are so hard on yourself, the brushwork is flawless, plenty of cover, it's a bit cramped and yes it is small but it would make a good lan map, even a good bots2 map!

it'll be expanded i'm assuming so it's not so small, but otherwise it's good for your first map!!!

I've kinda build myself into a corner... I can't think of where to expand to/what to have in the expanded bit, so suggestions will be highly appreciated!

alright ,ive completed the 1st phase of testing (with myself)
and i have to say this map is v.cool . u might get lost in the 1st few minutes of playing but when u get the hang of it ,it really is cool

as i can see its designed for very very close action combat
a shotgun would do lots of damage here while a sniper would be considered stupidness !!!

anyways ,ive seen a few "mapping" issues so i thought id post them

b4 starting i had this really wierd problem with the screenshots .i would take screenshots but they were 2 dark ,which isnt a problem since i could brighten them .but some of those screeshots didnt accept brightning !!! when id brighten them only the area around the time counter and scroe would be brightened while the rest is pitch black !!! however another screenshot in the same place would fix it :?

A-despite the "not so good" caulking of the map ,the fps simply rocks on high textures  .its low in this screeshot because i took 2 screenshots after each other !!

Image
this is an area behind the walls !!! most of the walls are like that (not caulked)

B-there are a number of duplicate brushes and intersecting brushes which give a wierd look in gameplay .mayb esome of them might have been caused by the undo functin in radient

Image
Image

Image

these are just a few examples but there is alot more ,i suggest going thru the map again to make sure

C- 1\i think usually wires ,should be under construction in angle changes on walls .i mean, the wire shouldnt pass over the door wireframe ,but under it
2\what are those ?pipes? .they dont look as realistic as the blue pipes running thru the map
Image

D-
those boxes look a little in the air
Image

this typewriter 2
Image
maybe a few notches down (grid 1) should fix it

Image
i think u put this bed alittle too much to the left

E-
Image

is this an elavator?
its very hard to distinguish ,actually i discovered it by pressing the action button by mistake ,b4 it i was wondering how i could get up
also, this elavator can be activated from anywhere which looks a bit wierd
maybe if u make 2 switches on the outside that it would look normal
one switch in the elevator too would be cool

also, the sounds on this elavator sound like a wooden door opening and closing which just simply isnt right ,go thru the sounds in pak#.pk3 files and choose one that matches then use the uber workaround for it

thats it ,these are almost all the comments/errors i noticed

but one thing i have to say is ,this map has BLAZING fps which is really good ,nice job

i personnaly hate closed quarters map (because im usually a sniper guy),but i find this one really interesting .i am good also at closed quarters ,but i prefer being at a high distance away from the battle flow and sniping ppl as they go !!!

i think this map is all but complete ,so i don think u should add anything 2 it except repair some of the issues i mentioned

Thanks a lot! :D I will fix all those issues, and try caulking :? but it will be hard... :P

I will try and answer some of the questions...

It is a CAC map, Close Action Combat, and im a sniper too...

A/ I'll try and caulk it, so as to increase FPS further :)

B/ Will be fixed, thanx for pointing those areas out

C/ 1 = The wires were just to add a bit of detail and give me something to make

C/ 2 = The pipes are a texture i was messing with, i was just experimenting with that.

D/ = dammit those boxes are in the air... Fix soon
The bed will soon be fixed, im gonna rotate 180 it too.

E/ = The "elevator" is a sliding door that goes upwards, as i had never scripted before at that point.... and as for changing sounds i still dont know how to do it :P

Thanks for the constructive criticism! :D

ur welcome ,expect a 2nd phase of my opinion when i run the map with a few friends on my lan later

well, ther was a script elevator tut ,here i think
also ,the scripting forum is a great place to get scripting help .
take a look at the custom sounds tut here and a look at the uber-sound workaround thread in the scripting forum to see how to add sounds

mj, about caulking and those brushes....

cntrl-shift-left click selects a single face of any brush so you can retexture that how you need to....
with those brushes it looks to me as if you used hollow and ddin't get all the brushes slid out? 'good brushwork' dictates that the brushes don't intersect (maaaaan i'm baad at that) they only touch so their textures can meld...

other brush

not...

just thought i'd help ya out on those two things...
