broken brush

I got a broken brush in my map, I see it in the game but I cant see it in radiant, it looks like a thin cord, and it is black. ( The broken brush is at the place where I had used CSG subtract). But what now??? I cant delete it because I cant find the broken brush ( or what else it is ) in radiant.

wow, never saw that b4. are u sure its a brush and not just a space in between the brushes?

Try using Rouge's plugins. It's probably a bad plane or brush.

Draw a big brush around the whole area. Then go to Selection > Select Inside and it should get selected.

I tried but it doesn't work, the (thin cord) was not selected.

tried doing a quick compile to find the entity number?
i am not sure just have a throw at it
cause a compile would ppick it up wouldnt it?

or its something to do with ur filters
make sure none r selected
i have had same prob b4 hand but cant remember how it was fixed
have u looked up in the forum on ne hints in iold post

There are three evil polys, and the Roque Brush Repair plugin does get rid of them. Wait, I read it wrong, it is 0 evil polys.

2 me ,this looks very similar to an infinite brush usually created by bad csg subtracting . i think rogue plugins could help
if they didnt work u could try these 2 things
Draw a big brush around the whole area. Then go to Selection > Select Inside and it should get selected.
that shouldnt work ,since the brush extends away from the map (and the box around it) .i think if u try complete tall ,it should select it !!! (try the other 2 as well)

if it doesnt work
select the whole map ,i.e draw a box around the whole map and select complete tall .this should select the map and the wierd brush ,follow the brush thru radient until u find a place where u can manage to delete it.

if all failes ,try to draw something around it ,since it looks like a wire ,maybe put some lights hanging from it or something as to hide it :wink:

If all else fails, select the whole map and copy it to a new map. I did a quick compile of pj7_2 and did not see the thin brush in the game. But, the map has more compile errors than you can shake a stick at!

I tried this, but after compiling I still see the "thin cord" :shock:

This is really weird, I think I must make some boxes around the "cord" so you cant see it anymore :( but that's not what I want.

How must I hide this??

EDIT: HEY, wait a moment, so the "cord" must have been selected (you cant see it). This gives me an idea. Be right back..

EDIT2: Forget the idea, I have found the problem :D... when I did this: selection > select inside, above the window, I found 10 splitted brushes in the wall ( CSG did this I guess) now I deleted all the splitted brushes and the problem was over :D :D :D I'm so glad now, and everybody: THNX FOR HELPING ME!! 8-)

I think I found your problem Atomic.
That is absolutely terrible CSG Subtracting.

I am sure it is more than just the window I looked at, but you have 6 brushes per window that are paper thin, and causing the error. Plus there is a 7th and 8th brush buried in the window frame.
I moved the window frame to take this shot:

I would suggest remaking the arched part of your window frame from a square cylinder, or a few well-placed brushes. The dual CSG method you used almost never yields acceptable results.

This is the only window I checked, but if you made them all the same way, I am sure they all have these brushes.

The splitted brushes where in 4 other windows, it was easy to fix.
