Is there a way to have the 2d view move along with the 3d camera.. ? i tried the setting in pref's "Update 2D during move", i thought that may do it but no joy
Can it be done any clues

I see what you're trying to do, but I don't know if it can be done.
If you Ctrl + Middle Click (mouse wheel) you can postion the camera at that spot on the grid. That might help a bit.

Well, what I told you above is handy for getting the camera to one place to other quickly.

Key (Alt + X) will center the 2d view on the 3d camera. Also, (Ctrl + Tab) will move the 2d view to any selected brush.

For me, at least, Ctrl + Tab is used to cycle through the 3 different 2d views, XY, XZ, YZ
