Mapping Tools, i.e. Radiant, Mbuilder in Linux?

Post by m4rine »

hi all,

i know i can get MoH ot work on Linux, but what about the tools? and Linix versions, i doubt Wine supports Radiant, not exactly MS Wrod size is it lol

i want to use Linux because, well, i like it loads better (i reccomend ppl to d/l Peanut Linux for free fo a trial then if u like it then buy SUSE Pro for ?60) also it hays better skinning progs, modelling prog and i dont want to reboot into windows and save my models from the floppy disk to moh.

any help would be much apprieciated!!!

You could try GTK Radiant but it's not 100% compatible with mohaa :(

Also the compilers only work on crappy windows I'm afraid :?

What linux programs do you use for these jobs? The main advantage is that most of these tools are free (as in speech) as of course is linux itself.

well, my version of Linux is the best all-round luinux in my opinion, SUSe Linux Pro 9.1 at ?65 .

for skinning The GIMP is what i use - it is as good (if not better) than PSP, but lacks a good GUI - its range of features is fantastic.

and for modelling 'Blender'. it is also very good, with its own game engine, so i could develop a whole new game ;)

^^ both those progs are available for Windows, free :D

and i'll give GTK a whizz, cheers jv. would i still be able to compile from command line, or when u say 'compilers' you mean the batch files or progs like mbuilder ?

cheers,

I meant q3map.exe and mohlight.exe... I don't think they will work on linux :(.

no i dont think they will: .exe dont work, u use .rpm for linux

though i doubt much work will have to be done to convert them to linux... i mean, they are the same commands aren't they, because MoH runs the same?

well,u could have 2 OS on ur comp .simply make a new drive (much cleaner) and install the new on it. that way whenever u want to compile (if it doesnt work on linux) u reboot and compile on windows .u might say its alittle tedious but i guess thats all u got right?

i have Windows on my comp with linux, same Hard Disk, it just has 2 OS. i can reboot sure, but i thought it is tedious, and i will be doing it a lot. compilers aren't the main prob, its more Radiant. I doubt i will have much look with pakscape, i'll use .tar.gz (linux .zip format) and rename.
