What linux programs do you use for these jobs? The main advantage is that most of these tools are free (as in speech) as of course is linux itself.m4rine wrote: ...also it hays better skinning progs, modelling prog and i dont want to reboot into windows ....
well, my version of Linux is the best all-round luinux in my opinion, SUSe Linux Pro 9.1 at ?65 .
for skinning The GIMP is what i use - it is as good (if not better) than PSP, but lacks a good GUI - its range of features is fantastic.
and for modelling 'Blender'. it is also very good, with its own game engine, so i could develop a whole new game
^^ both those progs are available for Windows, free
and i'll give GTK a whizz, cheers jv. would i still be able to compile from command line, or when u say 'compilers' you mean the batch files or progs like mbuilder ?
cheers,
m4rine

i have Windows on my comp with linux, same Hard Disk, it just has 2 OS. i can reboot sure, but i thought it is tedious, and i will be doing it a lot. compilers aren't the main prob, its more Radiant. I doubt i will have much look with pakscape, i'll use .tar.gz (linux .zip format) and rename.
