What I have been doing the last 2 months !

Post by Jack Ruby »

I have been building a website for a travel company in central London, England.

I took on a 3 month contract to overhaul their site, I am two months in but due to pressure to get it Live ( which is explainable as their site was awful disgusting ) I had to go Live tonight :(

So the sites up, with many errors but certainly better than what was there. I have been making templates, ie. making say a group 6 pages that are all perfect, they link to eachother, all graphics are sitting sweet.

I then send that template to some guys this travel company has working in Delhi India for peanuts. You all heard the saying " Pay peanuts, you get monkeys ", well in fact they truly seem to be :)

They made I guess around 300 pages for me based on my template, all you had to do was change text and swap images, a lil bit of dreamweaver and a tiny bit of photoshop as I sent them the psd's so all they had to do was change a text layer then save for web ????

So all 300 pages come back misaligned, linked up wrong and oh man the text these guys pasted in to sell you a holiday, heres one example:

"Los Angeles, mix Hollwood glamour with Gang warfare. Sunny weather but big traffic jams".

Bet you cant wait to go to LA huh ?

So the last week I have been trying to correct everything, had to go live, still has many errors and horrible top navigation, this will be fixed soon, but you can book a flight online which is a pretty cool thing :)

If any of you are booking flights, take a look, send an enquiry and mention that your from .MAP and I will push for a cheaper deal for you.

You got skills man :)

Can you tell me why the sub-menu pops out of place and turns white some times when you view this site I'm working on in Firebird/Mozilla?

Bjarne, I will look into your white out problems, hope I will be able to help.

I noticed your using some Lorem Ipsum text.

Heres a super cool text generator, same as Ipsum but with the lyrics to all your fave TV show themes.

edit : the site looks very cool Bjarne, love the top image, very nice :)

Well Jack I gotta say Benztravel certainly looks inviting and it has that clean 'Mac' feel to it. I was actually reading and browsing before I knew it!
(Oh, since you're still hunting down errors here are two little ones I found: on the About Us page the "For full details..." link does nothing and at the end of the Webmaster paragraph is a double period.)

I can't take credit for the looks I'm afraid, I only did the PHP, SMARTIE, CSS parts.
