aux channel

Post by Krane »

1) How many aux can we use in the mus file?

2) Can I use different paths for the files? Ex:

path sound/music
aux1 mus_06a_mystery.mp3
aux2 mus_04f_suspense.mp3
aux3 mus_02f_suspense.mp3
aux4 mus_02b_suspense.mp3
aux5 mus_16a_mystery.mp3
aux6 mus_03c_suspense.mp3

!aux1 volume 1
!aux1 loop
!aux2 volume 1
!aux2 loop
!aux3 volume 1
!aux3 loop
!aux4 volume 1
!aux4 loop
!aux5 volume 1
!aux5 loop
!aux6 volume 1
!aux6 loop

path sound/amb_stereo

aux7 Amb_M1_Bunker_01.mp3 // amb

!aux7 volume 0.2
!aux7 loop
3) Is there any problem NOT using the normal channel?

Not sure how many maybe as many as you need the global/ambient.scr is a good example of useing it .

In the global/ambient.scr only 6 aux are mentioned...

I'm using a 7th aux and it's working..so far.

I had a crash in my map but dunno what the prob was...I have a sentry doing the patrol routine (waypoints, etc) and NO pathnodes. He killed me once and the game crashed. The moment he killed me (and the computer was crashing) I could hear the last bullet sound looped...and it crashes.

Or 1) was a sound problem (too many stuff)
Or 2) As he don't have pathnodes, he was having some kind of problem going back to the routine.

I putted pathnodes all over the places he suppose to "visit" and the game it's not crashing anymore (when he kills me).

But the fact that I'm using 7 aux channels (one at a time) might be the problem...I've been testing a lot and it's not crashing so far...

So far, so good!

Well there is a limited number of channels you can use, I think up to aux8 and then another few like 'suspense' and 'normal'. Check the ambient sounds and music tut, I think that one has a complete list.

Actually, I'm only using 2...or even 1: the aux channel. I'm not even using the normal channel...

The prob is: Can I use the 7th aux? The ambient.scr only mentions 6...

Our custom music files are subject to this script?

Yes I think you can use aux7. Just call it from the script with forcemusic aux7.
