compiling
I have finished my .map and I want to compile it. I am using Mbuilder and I followed the tutorial that was made on this site
after the .vis and the .light and .BSP it has on the screen that it is a "bad command or file" and then it says "0 files copied."
I am not able to play my map in MOHAA yet.
I save my .map file in My Documents. Does anyone know exactly what to do?

First go to the my documents folder. Do you can see the "yourmapname.bsp"???
(Detail the extension of the file compile is .bsp file and not .map file)...
If you have the file...
Go to pass the file to the game...
It help you???
(Save your map file in other past... because is possible you not have autorization to enter in the others documents folders of the others users of the Windows XP)...
I confuse you???
Sorry with my bad english...
Thanks!!!

Code: Select all
I believe to you can compile. But if the .map file is on my documents the .bsp file stay too in the my documents...
You need copy the .bsp file to the game...
Do you have Packscake???
If you have "do this"...
Open the Packscape program...
Clock in file/open. Open the mohaa directory. Open the sub folder main/pack5.pk3...
Go to inside the .pk3 file and open the maps/dm...
Richt click in a "blank location" and click on import/file...
In the windows open go to the my documents and click to the "yourmapname.bsp" and "yourmapname.min"...
Click to close the Packscape program...
And save the file...
(Do not is recomended place files inside the .pk3 oficial of the game... do not send files inside the oficial .pk3 files to the internet)...
Now go to the game. Go to the multiplayer and go to the TEAM GAME or FREE FOR ALL...
And select your .bsp file name...
And click on start...(Save your map file in other past... because is possible you not have autorization to enter in the others documents folders of the others users of the Windows XP)...

fixed a little, but still not there
Hi Rodney
I figured out one problem with the Mbuilder, I had the compiler directory set up wrong. So I have fixed that, but now when I try to compile it says that it cannot not find "home.bsp" I thought Mbuilder was supposed to make .bsp's. Do you have some more advice?
It is frustrating to work so long on a map and then not be able to play on it, it will just take some time I guess.
If anybody else has a solution to this problem your advice would be welcome.
Thanks everyone

Thanks rodney,
this would answer the problem for sure, but I wouldn't want to have to send every one of my maps through you. I would imagine you would get a little tired and annoyed.
Hey blue60007 what is a dm and obj folders? If I move my .map into a folder in /main/ and change the source in Mbuilder will MOHAA be able to find my .bsp file?( I appreciate any help you guys can give)
Whats the difference between having a .map file in "My Documents" as opposed to being in "MOHAA/main"?
rodney I will send it to you, but I just want to try to figure out what is wrong, I want to make more maps and I don't want to make you have to compile it everytime I create one. I most likely will send you home.map, but only if I can't solve this problem. Thanks I appreciate it

Well you put any dm maps (bsp's of course) into a /main/maps/dm/ and OBJ, TOW maps into /main/maps/obj/.
Having the .map in the main/maps folder saves you the trouble of copying the map over. But I usually keep a folder in My Documents of all of my current project stuff. It makes it easy to back up this way, just copy that one folder.
I wonder if you took a dummy bsp file and renamed it to home.bsp, maybe that will work. Also rename your .map to home2.map, compile that then rename the bsp back to home.bsp as well as the home.map

No problem...
The map is a surprise???
The location of .map files is not important. but the .bsp files need stay in the mohaa/main/maps/dm...
or mohaa/main/maps/obj...
or mohaa/main/pack5.pk3 "maps/dm"...
or mohaa/main/pack5.pk3 "maps/obj"...
I speak to you move your map to other folder because the my documents is a system diferent protect and plugin folder...
And is best place in a normal folder...
Do you continue with the compile problems???
Do you use MOHAA SDK???
Do you use Spearhead SDK???
Thanks!!!

lets say you have just compiled you map unsuccessfully. you said before the light, bsp, and vis stages had already been finished? Ok if that is all true, your bsp has already been made. Look in your my documents folder (or wherever your m.map was saved.) folder for your "home.bsp" then follow these instruction.
to play map make (IN YOUR "MAIN" folder) make another folder called "maps". Then in maps make a a folder called DM and another called obj. Then to play your maps on MOH:AA just stick your all of your maps' bsp's in your DM or "obj" folder, depending on type of map(put the bsp in dm if you want a team match or deathmatch. Stick it in the obj if it has something to destroy or something like "The Hunt".
Basically it is this.
make folder called maps in your main folder
make another folder called DM and another called obj in your new maps folder
you then stick normal maps like algeirs in DM and ones like the bridge in obj!
THEN YOU CAN PLAY. TO TEST ANY MAP W/O OBJ MATCH TYPES THEN STICK THE BSP IN DM!!!
i hope i helped!

The things you guys are saying is really helping.
I did everything, I made a "DM" folder and a "obj" folder. I run the "Mbuilder" and in it it says
ERROR********************** Terrain Patch (-345, 400)*********************home.bsp not found no directory.
Is the problem with the terrain patch the reason that a ".bsp" is not being made?
DOes this mean that I have to find where the leak is and then put a brush over it?
