Well sorry for the delay but finally .map is back online after all those silly php errors. I hope it stays this way though I cannot guarantee...

Thanks for hanging on all!

I'M GETTING REALLY ANNOYED BY THIS!
As all my mails to any form of GameSpy bounces...
And as it seems that more people than us are affected ( I guess the CoD .MAP site uses the smae database server ( when we are down, they are dwn as well ).
From the limited knowledge on datases I have, I think maby someone in the GameSpy network is opening a connection to the database server on every access... but then again, Its very hard to know anything when my mails bounce.....

there have been many errors with servers of late due to flooding, when the capacity of the server can't cope with the number of "clicks" or false clicks in this case,

just good to see it back up again :D
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

They have their own database servers.

I suspect soneone is not re-using their database connection. If so its not really an error, just bad programming leading to an overloading of connections to the database.
As for how it was solved... did you get through to them jv?

On the COD .map forums somebody said that it's due to too many members on the forums. (Gamespy + Hosted sites) But dunno for sure.

I sent em 4 e-mails but never got any reply :(

I suspect they just rebooted the database server to 'clean' it and didn't really fix anything... sadly that would mean it's just a matter of time before it goes down again :? and we can't do a single thing about it not having access to that server.
