need help...again ;)

Post by Ferril »

I'm trying to make an infantry emplacement with a camo netting covering.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to make the camo netting nonsolid.

I've tried checking "nonsolid" in the surface inspector but it's still solid.

here's a pic of what I'm working on to give you a better idea:

What properties should I use to make the netting visible(and only visible on one surface of the brush), but make it so it's non solid?

Hi....

Ok... first select your cammo netting .... clone it ,place the cloned netting above or below (so its touching not clipping) us the nodraw texture from the common texture folder... use this on the surfaces that are touching ... and that should do it ...

:D

ok thanks, I'll try that once I figure out why I can't see any textures in 3D view with no filters on.

*edit*
and after digging through old posts I figured it out :) Somehow I inadvertently changed my texture view mode.

gener_al,

that doesn't seem to work.

let me tell you how I understood what you said.

Clone the brush with the camo netting and place it above the existing one. Apply nodraw texture to the surface below the cloned camo net that touches the original camo net.

Doing this still makes it a solid object. I want it to be nonsolid. If I use the surface inspector with the whole brush selected and check "nonsolid", it turns the entire brush into the netting texture, and it's still solid. If I select only the surface with the netting texture and open surface inspector and check "nonsolid", it's still solid.

You have to put the nodraw texture on all surfaces currently having the caulk texture.

jv_map:

that didn't work either

Made all caulk surfaces on the camo net into nodraw. Selected the camo net surface and made nonsolid.

Selecting the whole brush and applying nonsolid turns all the nodraw surfaces into camonet surfaces when I hit apply. Turning off ladder checkbox won't work either. Causes the game to freeze at the load screen.

I tell you, MOHRadiant amazes me every day.

jv_map I did what you said again...and removed fence box and checked nonsolid....like I've done 50 times before...and this time it worked.

Now I just hope it works on the rest of the net, only tried a small piece.

Thanks! :)

Is it possible to make camo netting that can't be walked through but will allow bullets to pass through?

Every time that I've used the camo net all I did was create the brush, make it all NODRAW then put the camo texture on the top surface...it's always been player-solid and bullet-non-solid automatically....at least for me.

I'm compiling the map now using Innkeepers idea, if that doesnt work I'll try Slyks, either way I'll let you know.

Thanks to both of you......
