Ok,

I have revived an old script that I started back when the devs used to visit alliedassault. I am tying to get working spotlight mg42 gunners for multiplayer. I am close but am still getting a few errors. I have racked my brain endlessly and while accomplishing much I cannot figure out how to get rid of these looping errors I am getting. I need advice from a real scripter. I have some other issues too...
I want to spawn a fx/dummy.tik for my gates to play the sounds. As it is now the sound is being generated from the gates themselves and as they move so does the sound. I dont want that. I want the fx/dummy.tik to play the sound from right in the middle of where each gate sits (currently I have 4 gates). And then remove the fx/dummy.tik once the gate has closed.
This is a very basic map just to get my scripting in place. Heck I even have wood on the gates instead of metal. Once I have the script done with no errors, then I will rework brushes and textures. But as of now that is no concern to me. The numbers in the corners are there for me for reference as which tower is which in the game and in radiant. The gates are to opened by allies only. Axis will hear the gate locked sound. It works as I have it now but like I said the sound goes off into the wall as the gate opens.
As far as the spotlight script...
The AI are having problems. When I shoot them they dont die yet they quit operating the spotlight as if they did. The console is generating all kinds of animation errors.
The spotlights themselves seem to have trouble with vectors. I am assuming it cannot target the player correctly in multiplayer.

Download the zip file and extract to main. You will see where I am and what I am up against. In the prison.scr script I have put comments throughout describing where people have helped me and where I am not sure what is needed or not.

So if anyone here is willing to tackle this, I would greatly appreciate it. I know its a lot to ask because the spotlight script is long...at least to me it is.. lol.
If any of you have a better way of scripting these doors let me know too. I also plan on adding a trigger on the other side of these gates. And that has me wondering if I need to name it like $main_gate_1_trigger_2 and then do a nottrigerable for the other trigger. I certainly dont want the script to hang if 2 allies are trying to open the door from opposite sides at the same time.

Maybe it will have something to do with bots. I don't know what exactly to do, but maybe try something with the file jv_bot. jv_map may know the answer 8-) .
