Making light.

Post by Golden-Hammer »

Hello again! I was making my map and i wanted to test it so i need light. I made a box around the map, gave it sky textures and its dark in my map! There is something you place to give rooms light but i dont see how you use that outdoors.

How do i light up my map?

Make sure the bottom brush is a ground texture and rest is sky, deselect everything and press 'n' this brings up the entity screen. Go to worldspawn and typ in at key and value the following

Key: suncolor Value: 60 60 60
Key: sundirection Value: -60 90 0
Key: sunflarename Value: sun

dont forget to actually press enter after u filled in the value..
Then compile.. that should get you atleast a sun.. later on i suggest u have a mess about to find your correct settings.

yes as DonMoneta said or a simplified version is to put in the KEY ambientlight and Value 30 30 30 ,this will at least light up your map.
For a more realistic light pls refer to /forum/viewtopic.php?t=8435

Yeah also check out the tuts section. There's a sunlight/skybox one there.
