String from a fan

Post by PsychoE »

I would like to make a rotating fan as in the tuts, but would like to add a piece of string flapping from the centre of the fan. Wouldn't know how to add the string.

Any ideas?

first thing that comes to mind is a func_beam, tltrude can give you in-depth details on how to support stuff like this (i can't) but you'd need to have various origin points......... nvm, ask tltrude.

Try making a second fan that looks like a piece of string. Then bind it to the big fan--off center.

$mystring bind $myfan // in prespawn or whereever

The string will rotate on its own, but its origin will also rotate with the big fan. That should make it "flap" for you.
