your more likely to get americans to measure there weight in stones, then convert to the metric system.

...more likely to find an honest politician then get americans to convert to the metric system.

They wouldnt know how long a football field was...
or how far they lived from town...
or how hot it was...

metric is confusing when youve lived with another system for so long, especialy things like celsius. When its hot, americans expect it to be 90 degrees... so... on top of asking 'grand ol America' to convert to the same system that the 'damn frenchies use' (no offense to the french! But the 'average' american loathes you right now)... on top of that.. they'd have to think????

honestly if we had a better school system it would be alot easier. Our schools can barely teach 1 system of measurements, much less 'slip in' more metric ourside of science classes, which would be the way to do it.

Cricket ? haha I always hated cricket, its ok when your batting but no fun at all when your fielding, when we were kids every single cricket game only lasted until the first batting team were meant to swap to fielding then they would all say " Nah we're bored lets do something else ". So the moral of the story is ALWAYS BE ON THE BATTING TEAM FIRST.

My PE teacher got around this problem by adapting the game,

we got the six stumps and layout them out in a pretty big rectangle, there was only 1 batter at a time. You hit the ball, run to the other end of the rectangle and back to complete 1 run.

The other 35 guys were the fielding team and their job was to hit you with the ball while your running, anyone who does not know cricket balls are really frickin hard, so it really was an insentive to run like a madman dodging the small concrete like ball that people are throwing as hard as they possibly could at you :)

Made fielding interesting at least and even got the fat boys running when they were batting :)

my god Jack, this is why AMericans left England to start out wid, we got stoned to death by crazy PE teachers (think stoned as in had stones thrown at you until you die, not weed)

damn frenchies.... hand me a Freedom Fry...

small units of measurement are usually inches, tho we use centimeters in REALLY small cases. liek to measure a smal nail we'd use inches. we go by 14/ inch, 1/2 inch, 1/8 inch, 1/16 inch... those are the common ones.

you guys would convery down to milimeter and go from there i'd wager...

Yeah that's why I like the metric system better than our dern feet and inches!

Let's see its:

Inch
Foot (12 inches)
Yard (3 feet)
Mile (5280 feet)

(distance anyways)

i knew about metric, i learned it two years ago. :P

weight, um, i think we go

ounce
pound (16 oz?)
ton (1000 pounds?)

really the pound (lb) is the only unit we use day-to-day, ounces are for cooking mainly, and tons are for construction. :P
