Truck animated / solid

Hi
I have a german truck (vehicle_german_opeltruckgreen) and i want to animte it using script, but i can not turn it into a script_object so it does not animate how do i make it so that it will work, i have all the right script and targetnames ect but even if i give it the targetname it still won't work because it is not a script_object. Also how do i make it so that the truck is solid, because at the moment you can walk through it.

u make brushes script_object to turn them into an entity so u can assign a targetname to .and use this targetname in your commands .
but the truck is already an entity ,so just give it a targetname and do whatever u please with it

M&M, i think he meant to say ''SCRIPT_MODEL''. Is that what ur saying? Because if you want a ''SCRIPT_MODEL'' to be your opel, you have to make the ''SCRIPT_MODEL''(arent quotes fun?) and then type in the model of the entity you want. In this case you'd want the key/value to be...

model/animate/vehicle_german_opeltruckgreen_canopy.tik

then, in the game you would have a script object that looks like an opel truck that has moving wheels(but the truck OBVIOUSLY wont move :roll: :roll: )

and on the editor youd have a blue box from range(about 1000 units away) and an opeltruck model if you look at it normally(like 64 units away in 3d view) I hope i helped

No sorry you are both wrong, i want a script_object so it can be animated from the script. i have a script_object already and this works fine, but even if i gave the truck the targetname car it still won't budge, also you can walk through it!?

oh man. here we go. a truck does not need to be a script_object to move. no entity does. put it on a-

no, wait. here. go here.

it'll give you info on collision masks, making stuff move, and all that. come back if you have questions.

OK I'll TRY THIS TUT BUT! i have made objects move by turning them into a script_object, now i'm gona do this tut and see if it works! :P

OK thanks, it worked GREAT this tut but I can still walk through most of the truck, how do i fix this?

Make clips around it, textures/common/metalclip

Make it script_object together with the truck (also same targetname)

First if i selct all the clips + truck it won't let me turn it into a script_object but if i select clips withoue the truck i can. I gave them the correct targetname. But in the game all that happens is the truck appers on top of the invisible clips, and it doesn't move. And the clips don't move either u just can't run through them. Oh well wat to do????

the truck is an entity .so u cant change it into another entity (which is a script_object)
but the clips u can turn into an entity cause they are brushes .the clips are used to block the path of a player from walking into the truck.
to move the truck and its "mask" u need to give them targetnames (or one name) and script the movement
