Making a transparent texture?

Post by Mj »

I am currently trying to create a texture, with holes in, or a transparent one. Something visible, yet see through. But, the method is yet eluding me, after fiddling with PSP8 images and shaders i'm still having no luck :(

If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful :wink:

Create an alpha channel for your texture, color the transparent parts black and the solid parts white (in the alpha channel), save it as a 32 bit tga, use this shader:

textures/yourfolder/yourtexture
{
qer_keyword metal
surfaceparm metal
surfaceparm trans
cull none
{
map textures/yourfolder/yourtexture.tga
depthWrite
alphaFunc GE128
nextbundle
map $lightmap
rgbgen lightingDiffuse
}
}

I use photoshop. My version of PSP is too old and screws up TGAs pretty bad.
