recyclebin's future

Post by wacko »

ok. the time has come. I wont continue the mohaa recycle bin site.

1st of all, I never got the input I was hoping for, so this idea of sharing map files seems to be a bad one. Yes, I got some really nice pieces and thnx to all who sent their trashures, but, hey, there ought to be much more...
As I was afraid in the beginning: output :D - input

2nd nevertheless, the recycling bin had over 1gig transfer in the last three months each, so my ISP wants me to pay even more now. Not much more, but atleast it makes me think of the 1st reason...

If I had about 10 good pieces each month, I'd try to get in/on planetmedalofhonor.com, but the way it is... They want the site to be updated regularly. But as long as I dont get anything, how should I?

Anyway, tell me what u think and/or whether maybe you would like to continue in any form...

:o

Dont stop the recycle bin! I will pour all my unfinished stuff (loads of prefabs) in when i finally get the means to do so! (I have ADD so i don't tend to finish much... I get bored way before that :P)

But I would become a 'site PR' or admin if you want, and spread the word...

well, well, well
I applied for being hosted by PlanetMedalOfHonor...
Not sure, what they will tell me, but if their answer was positive, this will cause a certain need for updates. You know what I mean...

@Mj, as you might have seen, prefabs are not exactly what I am looking for, but, hey, all others dont send anything at all...
Your idea of helping as an admin though might become quite interesting. But this would be possible only when/if I can get on PlanetMedalOfHonor. We'll talk about it then

err, my 1406th, I think :P

and, if I had got - just for example - some of your files, the input would've been kinda better  no offense, m8. this rather goes to everybody

ok... the point of this was to study mapping techniques without the need for stupid decompilers right? Not submitting unused crap for other people to rip out?

I have two maps --near finished-- (havent worked on them in more then a month. I get like that, when i get near the end, the tedious problem fixes make me disinterested) I will gladly pass along the .map files when i finaly complete them though.

data

I don't think new data is what is impotant. Your site is a valuable resource for mappers! Look at Nemisis' site, it has not been updated for a very lone time, but people still refer to it, almost daily.

I agree, you should not be paying to host the site. But, some kind hearted person will offer space sooner or later--now that the word is out you need some.
