just replace it all with caulk...... the easy way is to change your .map file into a .txt and replace all the 'blanklightmaps' with 'caulk' Using notepad, the replace tool is under the edit toolbar, saves you doing it manually.

Wordpad

I think it is easier to use Wordpad to replace "common/blank_lightmap" with "common/caulk" in the .map file.

Can't you also do something like ctrl+ click on the texture to select all of the faces with that texture then select the new texture? I read it in a post from tltrude recently but I can't remember what it was

Stratocaster wrote:1 - I have my two button mouse, is there a way to do what you say with a 2 mouse button? If so, how?
I havent found a way to do it, but there MUST be a way... right?
Stratocaster wrote:2 - What does clicking with middle mouse button does?
Clicking with middle mouse button on a face in the 3D view shows the texture settings for that face in the Texture dialog ( if you got it up )
Stratocaster wrote:3 - You mean clicking on the brush or on the texture?
The face of the brush ibn the 3D view.
Stratocaster wrote:4 - I think I have never seen that blanklightmap texture you talk about. What does it do?
It has the exact same look as common/caulk in Radiant, and is therefore very often mistaken for common/caulk :(
Stratocaster wrote:5 - Is there a way to create brushes with (real) caulk? how?
Yes, click on common/caulk instead of common/blanklightmap in the texture selector.
Stratocaster wrote:6 - Do I have to redo all my map? I have all my 5000 brushes made of caulk (except for visible sides which are textured)
No, you justy go to Edit -> Find / Replace texture... and write common/blanklightmap in the first box, and common/caulk in the second.
Stratocaster wrote:7 - How do I change that common/blanklightmap for caulk in a brush or single face of a brush?
SHIFT+CTRL+mouseclick face to select a single face, then select the texture.
Stratocaster wrote:8 - I am starting to panic about that! Is that normal? I bet I have missed something in a turorial.
Keep calm.
Stratocaster wrote:9 - Is there a turorial about "watch out : textures shown on Radiant are not what they seem"?
No, not exactly ;)
Stratocaster wrote:10 - Sorry if I ask too many questions but I am really confused...
You are not alone, this is a common mistake. It is a good idea to do the replace I mentioned above: even for really old mappers :)

Great!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for your help

You were right it was common/blanklight instead of caulk. I just dis as you said and now it's all caulk, and this time for real!
Vis data has decreased
Compiling time has decreased
BSP file seems smaller than before
I am just finishing compiling and I can't wait to see the results.
I bet even my fps will be better now! 8-)

Thank you very much again for your help on that. I was just going to release my map after few fixes and I got scared when I realized it was not caulk. So I replaced texture in Radiant. I first tried with notepad but I had to change the word more than 100 times LOL

This page has all about using the center, or right, mouse button to copy textures.

I think "replacing textures in Radiant" post is in that "tip of the day" thread also.
