Tutorial on clip textures.

Post by Bjarne BZR »

Ever scratched your head, wondering what the strange textures in the common texture directory was for?

Wonder no more, I've done a little explanation page on them and where to use them ( It also includes an example map ).

Its not 100% complete, as I still need to investigate some of them more. If you know how to use any of them, or see errors in what I've written: don't be afraid to edit the page ( login and click edit at the bottom ).

Wow, that's cool!

I think you ment to say, blank_lightmap is often mistaken for "Caulk".

anyway, if you want to appearance that you will pick Static_visible or blank_lightmap instead of Caulk, you could better type ''utility'' in the console bar in radiant, only difference between ''utility'' and common is that Static_visible, Blank_lightmap and Switchflat_pulse won't be show up using the ''utility'' one.

common/portal is used as a projection surface for the portal camera entity (like teleporters and mirrors in quake3). I never got it to work in mohaa :(
