help with map

Post by Dragon013 »

hello im new mapper and have built a map but when i go to compile it i get no joy.i tested the compiler on a box room and player start and a light and it worked,so i think its my map .i also tested the compile on a test map i got with radiant it worked . i tried compiling my map in command promt and got no joy there either.so itell u what i made .its a terrain made from patches 512 by 512 half the size of the grid i then made mountains with it all round the edge and a few hills leading to a fort or a castle i built its not great but its a start o yeah then i put a box all round it and hollowed it then stuck a sky skin on it , then i added a player start and a light .i thought then to try and compile it but when i do it loads up mohaa and the console gives a error message :

LOCALIZAROIN ERROR: 'MOHAA Console' does not have a localizatoin entry

thats it hope u can help u think its got something to so with the terrain ?

I'll have to see it to judge it on what the problem could be, but it could very well be your terrain based on whether your using Ez-gen or LOD. Oh, and the localization has nothing to do with your map, it's the localization file in your global folder that's causing that. The errors in your map will display before your map even compiles, take a look at them next time.

localization

Post by tltrude »

The localization error is not your problem. Localization means translating the text of the game into your native language. Those errors are normal and should be ignored.

The game can not load your map if no bsp file was made by the compiler. So, you need to make a log of the compile to see what error prevented it.

For MBuilder:

You can make seperate logs for all steps, or just the one you need. First make a folder named "Compile_logs" on C drive--make a shortcut to to it on the desktop if you like. Then in Mbuilder, click on "change" and put the additional code lines after your compile options. The text file can have any name you wish.

-v > C:\Compile_logs\log_bsp.txt

-fast > C:\Compile_logs\log_vis.txt

> C:\Compile_logs\log_light.txt

I have a shortcut on my desktop, so the logs can be trashed easily after looking them over. But, you can have the logs going any folder you like. Also, when using these logs, the details of the compilers will not be seen in the DOS window during the compile.

Any errors whole compiling will be writtenout in the black kommand window you get when compiling with MBuilder.

Do this to actually be able to see them as well:

1) Right-click on the window top bar and select "Properties".
2) Select the "Layout" tab.
3) Set "Screenbuffer size" height to... say 10000.
4) Press "OK".
5) Select "Save properties fore future windows with same title".

Now you should be able to scroll back up to any errors. ( And you can copy the text from thiswindow by using the right click menu inside the window ).

When you find the compile error, post it here if you dont understand it yourself.

Here is something you can do to help us help you. In mbuilder, click to highlight your fort map. Then copy the batch file text, in the lower left window, and paste it here.

You may be using textures from one of the mod paks you have downloaded and put in main. If you add one of those textures to your map and then remove the mod pk3, they will vanish from your map as well. So, place all non-original pk3s in a temp folder in main while mapping. Also it is good to rename mainta to Xmainta, if you are not making a Spearhead map.

Well, the second and third errors are because no bsp file was made. Here is how to fix the first error.

Highlight your LOD Terrain in the editor and hit key V. Everywhere you see a yellow dot, drag it down until it turns pink--yellow means it is too high. When all the yellow is gone, your map will compile.
