MOHAA 'equipment'

Post by Cheetohs »

I was curious, ive seen many types of 'gamingpads' and such that say that they increase gameplay for less button restrictions and easier button/key access... Heck, ive even seen a keyboard tributed to mohaa alone!

Any of you guys have 'special equipment' for gaming? Here's what i use...

-Crappy/average Optical mouse.
-Normal Keyboard
-My mousepad is a Gun newspaper... i think newspapers work wonderful for a optic mouse pads! You have an unlimited supply.. if the page wears out, in the words of Bob Segar, TURN THE PAGE and you got a whole new mousepad.
-not really 'tools' but for increased gameplay i have all my gfx on the lowest of possible (even though i can handle more). I've done haphazard tests with clan mates and it seems i can see a bit further through the fog than them :?
-I don't bind keys, i think that makes you an easier target.
-No forced Skins, i like to have an idea who im up against and what tricks to pull outa my bag (everyone is at a different skill and they all have their weaknesses... play with them a fight or two and i've figured them out) psh... If you can't see the player without forced skins already, somethings wrong. Ive memorized the maps down perfectly, if someone is obscuring and changing my 'view' and angle of something, they show to me like a bright beacon in the dark.

Uh.. kinda drifted on the last few, but im just curious what and if people use those 'smaller compact' keyboard-things specifically designed for games (less buttons, easy acces, etc).

I have an optical mouse that I run directly on the desk surface. As it is wood-structured it works flawlessly, and I practically get a HUGE mouse mat. And before a clan match I spray silicone spray over the surface... mad glide :D

I dont bind leans... but i make fun of those who do ruthlessly =)

my keyboard wont let me strafe/lean left while walking, so I walk rarely.

Also I dont play with good sound(or sometimes no sound), so walking helps me barely.

even on low settings my screen shakes as if an omaha bomb has just gone off, about once every couple minute.

ah... and I have about 8 inches of lateral movement for my mouse, so im always hitting the side of keyboard...

ahhh... the sweetest of setups... wonder i can shoot anyone at all =)

fix

Post by tltrude »

Most of those things are programable in the game, Splaetos.

1. "My keyboard wont let me strafe/lean left while walking, so I walk rarely." You can bind two or more actions to one key by adding it in the unamedsoilder.cfg file. like this:

bind a "+moveleft; +leanleft"
bind d "+moveright; +leanright"

2. "I dont play with good sound(or sometimes no sound)...". I turn off the music, but the other sounds make the game fun. Maybe you should look into getting an inexpensive pair of hearphones.

3. "Even on low settings my screen shakes as if an omaha bomb has just gone off, about once every couple minutes." Sounds like a cheap video card, but also look into turning down the resoultion the game uses. Turn off complex shadows, under advanced, might help too.

4. "I have about 8 inches of lateral movement for my mouse, so im always hitting the side of keyboard." The "sensitivity" of the mouse is adjustable in the game options--turn it up a little.

Hope something in that helps.

thanks tom... I know that stuff =)

We (me, my entire clan)dont like binders, so there is no way im binding leans to strafes just to walk and lean =p I could however map another key to lean, its just not worth my effort. heh

I have no music but sounds set to high, usualy headphones are a big pain in the ass with this computer. It needs new speakers(with a working line out) plugging em directly in and out of the sound card is a hassle. But it needs new everything so no suprise =)

geforce 2 here, and tho the system has plenty of overall ram, and the processor is definately good enough for mohaa, overall with all settings on low(no shadows, no anything) it really doesnt play well, in 1280 and umm 1150 is next res down? Anyhow I couldnt tolerate going lower then that so even if it was better I would deal with this. Sucks having to change the settings when i want to play vs when i want to look at my maps, but I dont think all those visual settings cna be changed in parameters of a command line?

the mouse is midrange sensitive, pretty much where I like it, more sensitive then defaults. Like the computer tho... this is a fairly lousy desk =p cramped and annoying.

no worries tho, im just venting, and not even in a 'serious' manner; I do manage somehow to usualy kill way more then my fair share of people =)

cmdlist

Post by tltrude »

If you type "cmdlist" in the console, you will see all the commands and "vidmode" is one of them. I don't know how that one works, though. My "r_mode" is set at "8" in the unamedsoilder config file.

Its also in the options :P... just curious, have you guys ever practiced playing without the cursor?! makes it a world of hurt harder. A fun gametype is Rifles only (NO SCOPE) with NO cursor... gets kinda fun!
