1 - You make a box big enough to fit around your map.
2 - You texture it with cmmn/caulk.
3 - You hllow it out using the hllw tool.
4 - You texture the inside faces with a sky texture.

I thought you kew this Mushroom-man :)

The skybox is created in your worldspawn brush. You need a brush underneath your map for all of your worldspawn settings. Then you add a skybox by Key-value settings and such.

farplane 3000 //Distance the player can see
farplane_color 85 91 97 //Color of farplane
sky_altitude 2400 //Sky altitude
sky_extent 6000 //Sky extent
farplane_bias 1500 //I think this sets the transition to max farplane
global_light_direction 54 88 //Direction of where the sunlight is coming from
sunflare Gifu_sunflare //Type of sunflare
sky_model models\SkyBoxes\gifu_skybox1.gr2 //Skybox model
northyaw 90 //Sets north direction

These are general settings I robbed from General Death, so I hope he dont mind.
He could also explain it alot better.

You got it...

Its as simple as a key pair value in your worldspawn brush....very simple.

I have started tutorials for PA. My first one was simply a "get to know the MDK"(pictures need to be fixed tonight). They can be found here:

http://www.modtheater.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=109

I will dive into mapping tutorials soon.

BTW, I thought I would clear this up, since I could be confused with my own response. You need a simple small brush under your terrain (and probably under anything that goes under that) for worldspawn.

GD also mentioned a good trick in TMT forums, that if you start a new map and add new terrain, then save it, and close it. Then when you open that map file again, it will create a small brush for you. I simply moved it under my terrain and added the settings I listed.

awesome, we need some tutorials for pa.. its so confusing transferring from brushes all over to models all over (well for me anyways :) ) and thanks zip.
but why would i need that small brush? you can make brushes on your own cant you?

Oh and bjarne, theres a worm on your site? i was on it the other night but today its been taken over. (it wasnt me if thats what youre suspecting..im no programmer

Although it is strange, it's also kinda nice. You simply make this small brush and it holds all of your worldspawn values and your skybox, etc.

You can make brushes in this, but from what I understand they are not solid. I am still in the dark on most of this myself, but GD is working hard at getting us some kick-ass tuts.
