Mapping: A town worth Mapping

Post by Cheetohs »

Holey, i was just kinda surfin the net and I came across a town in france, Minerve, by name, and it would be a mapper's paradise! Ugh, i cant even explain how cool it would be to play in a well-done map of sections of this place... here are a few pics i found:

Well, isn't that basically the map Renan? More rock textures naturally, but the basic design is very similar... looks like anyone entering that bridbe will be dead in 2 milliseconds flat :)

Hmm, could this be a obj map?
The bridge can be destroyed wih a flak, some mortars would be around, and a few good aimed RPG's would take it down.
Preety hard thing to do huh?
Team ratio= 1:5

On the other side, snipers can cover the mortars and the flak,
the bazooka's are in some warehouse far away, flak doesnt have any ammo, so you would have to drive truck to bring some.(under heavy fire of the other team.)

It could be made equaly balanced. What do you think?

no rockets. the whole Allied team could spawn with those and demolish the bridge in nothing flat. and no way to stop it. flak or nebelwerfer if someone feels particularly in the mood.

resemblance

That first photo reminded me of a Hidden&Dangerous2 expansion trailer. Even though the map in the trailer is not Minerve and not in France, I find the resemblance stunning!

nebelwerfer that is the thing. And alot of Axis MG24 positions. And a explosive charge under the bridge. What about if the charge was alredy set, and allies should wire it up. Then blow it up from a remote location. (and find the wires and the detonator. And axis can distroy it.) And another crazy idea: Allies must pull the wiri from the telephone posts.
Am i stupid or what?

Well it all sounds nice HyperKiller but alot of mg42 positions does not make for a free flowing balenced map.

weel maybe not the brightest idea i ever had, but it gives axis a chance against a allied bazooka team.
And after all, a mg42 operator is not hard to kill.
Just an idea i had.

Oh, and LizardKid, a bazooka would not do much damage, unless it would be really good aim(but still it would need a couple of shots.).

but if the whole allies team spawns with bazooka's the game wouldn't be balanced .. but the obj idea is a pretty good idea

Hmm, it does have potential... And btw, panTera, its almost TOO similar. Perhaps someone stumbled on the same screenies :P

My idea, would be something simple, something people can catch a hold of right away and just go do it... not all this equipment hide-and-go-seek. My idea would be, allies on one side, axis on the other, obviously, one team has to penetrate enemy lines by crossing the bridge or just going through the valley below.. w/e works :P, get the bombs (To prevent major camping, probably have several depots to get the bombs from...) than, after getting the bomb, they have to get back to the bridge and plant. perhaps something like capture the flag, but only one 'flag' is getting captured. If they have the bomb and they die running, bomb stays there unless opposing team gets it.

If it were to be complicated more, and depending on how hard/easy it is for one bomb, perhaps 2 bombs are needed to blow the bridge. first one damages it, but 2nd one finishes her off.
