how do you delete a single vertex in an LOD patch?

hmm... not... exactly what i wanted, but it's helpful to know 
i meant cutting holes in LOD, here's my dilemma.
i have a small bunker made out and set into a hill, problem is, the hill happens to be in the way. so i want to carve out a piece of the hill on both ends and fit the "broken" ends to the sides of the bunker. i've had this happen before (cutting LOD) and it worked, but that wasnt it, that just covered the bunker completely.
i meant cutting holes in LOD, here's my dilemma.

left is in radiant, right in mohaa. the faces u checked as deleted in radiant are still visible there (yellowish), but in mohaa, there's the desired hole. U'd have to move/build ur bunker according to the lod's grid though...
