LOD terrain consists of square mesh-groups called patches. A patch is 512x512 units large and you cannot change this. You can't make it bigger or smaller. LOD terrain is generated out of a brush u draw and will be atleast the size of this brush. U can select single patches though by Ctrl+Shift+LMB and detach them from the rest of the terrain. Then u can delete these seperated patches.
A patch consists of 128 facets. These facets cannot be deleted like other parts of your map but can be flagged 'deleted' or 'invisble' and they will not be visible ingame then.
To do so, deselect your terrain, press Shift+F. The 'Edit Facet Flags' window opens. Now you can select single facets with Ctrl+Shift+LMB and in that window check the box next to 'delete' or 'invisible'. To see the result of what u did, u should check 'Color Surface Flags' in the LOD terrain menu. Deleted facets, for example, will turn yellow and semitransparent then.

i have the same prob, had it for awhile, but when i use this method, the verts do not deelte. nothing happens,

i select my LOD
i hit edit facet flags
i select the verts i want to get rid of,
i click delete
i hit ok
nothing happens.

i've done this in every variation i can think of, selection order, clicking box order, anything. nothing works, those verts are always there.

u sure? they still are there in Radiant, but ingame (after compile) they are gone. Did u check 'Color Surface Flags'? Did those changed facets change their colour?

As I mentioned, if u checked 'Color Surface Flags' in the LOD menu, the facets would be colored. More u can't see in Radiant.
