Problem compiling

Post by Roach »

Damn, it seems i've got a problem.
While compiling the vis-stage is stuck at 97% for 2 days now.
Compiling the map in pieces is no problem.
Could anybody eventually check out my files, try to compile or give some help or tips about that?

How many structural brushes do you have in your map?

Anyway, there a enough tricks to make a compile faster, like detailed brushes, area portals, vis-leafgroups. You can read about it in the tutorials on this site or http://www.planetmedalofhonor.com/rjukanproject/ for example.

Compiling depends on the speed of your computer (cpu etc.), the count of area's (rooms) in your map, the type of vis compiling etc.

Brushcount is about 14.500 with only a few of them Structural I know which to make detailed and which not but wanted to make the structural ones later because of the visibility in radi
I compiled whith all set to standard - no options set at all.
I cut some lange brushes into pieces, will make some structural and then try again.
If the compile works with no errors, i'll add the borders to the map and do some vis-designing to push fps

I think you need more detail brushes or fast vis. Full vis can take a month or more, depending on structural brushes. I almost never use full vis, it doesn't help with the type of maps I make. I have one map I use full vis on, but it 8 structural brushes, 1200 detail brushes and 3500 patch meshes. Full vis takes 8 seconds.
