increasing sound range

Post by HDL_CinC_Dragon »

ok in my map I have a speaker and its looping "m6l2b_generator_run" when I tell it to and stops when I tell it to via scripting... But there is one problem... its not loud enough! u have to be about 64 to 128 world units away in order to hear it... I tried editting the aliascache values to increase sound but.... im not sure which set of numbers does which... heres what i have and what the original was:

"...soundparms 1.5 0.0 1.0 0.0 160 6000..." <one I changed
"...soundparms 1.0 0.0 1.0 0.0 160 6000..." <original

I could have sworn the "6000" was something I changed too but i guess not... which number must I increase to increase the range at which it can be heard or in other words, the volume?

here is the sound parms for a sound which sound range I like... is it the 320 that makes its range go far?
"...soundparms 1.0 0.3 1.0 0.0 320 6000..."

read the frst lines of the ubersound.scr in pak0.pk3/ubersound:
//
// UBER SOUND FILE
// Current Format:
// aliascache (?alias?) snd wavfile soundparms basevol volmod basepitch pitchmod minDist maxDist channel loaded|streamed maps "mapstr1 mapstring2 mapstring3 ..."
//
// MIN DIST AND MAX DIST
// sound has linear falloff from minDist to maxDist. Within minDist sound is at normal volume. Units are 16 = 1 foot.
//
"...soundparms 1.0 0.3 1.0 0.0 320 6000..."
base volume, min distance, max distance
