Creating custom sky - problem with "group" of side

Post by mcunha98 »

Hi People !

I read the tutorial of creating sky using terragen (found in): http://gronnevik.se/rjukan/index.php?n= ... oxCreation

The tutorial is very simples and very cool.
I create a sky using all steps, but when i load my map with custom sky it dont a natural aspect.

All sides (including bottom) work fine, but the top image and corona of sun dont work fine, see this images. Some idea ???

Yes, i try use my sky created with terragen.

This is the code of shader file:

Code: Select all

textures/cf_clan_obj3/cf_clan_obj3sky
{
	qer_editorimage textures/cf_clan_obj3/cf_clan_obj3sky.tga
	qer_keyword cf_clan_obj3
	surfaceparm noimpact
	surfaceparm nolightmap
	surfaceparm sky
	surfaceparm nomarks
	q3map_globaltexture
	skyParms textures/cf_clan_obj3/cf_clan_obj3sky - -
}

at least there is nothing wrong with the shader. U called the upper texture cf_clan_obj3sky_up ? and did u used the same sky texture in the editor for the whole skybox?

The tutorial is excellent but the "bjarne.tgs" example script seems to be wrong. I had the exact same problem.

open the .tgs script with notepad and change the Cam-settings as follows:

Code: Select all

; The folder specified in InitAnim? must already exist.
initanim "C:\temp\sky_", 1
;  (necessary before using FRend)
CamH          180
CamP          0
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
CamH          270
CamP          0
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
CamH          0
CamP          0
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
CamH          90
CamP          0
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
CamH          0
CamP          90
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
CamH          0
CamP          -90
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
render angles:
Head 180, Pitch 0 = LF
Head 270, Pitch 0 = BK
Head 0, Pitch 0 = RT
Head 90, Pitch 0 = FT
Head 0, Pitch 90 = UP
Head 0, Pitch -90 = DN

rename:
sky_0001.jpg = sky_lf.jpg
sky_0002.jpg = sky_bk.jpg
sky_0003.jpg = sky_rt.jpg
sky_0004.jpg = sky_ft.jpg
sky_0005.jpg = sky_up.jpg
sky_0006.jpg = sky_dn.jpg

Take the top texture into a graphics program and turn it 180 degrees. At least it looks 180, may be 90 or -90 as well but my bet is on 180.

Did you render the images again and did you rename them the way I suggested? That script works great for me.

otherwise flip the "UP" image horizontally and then vertically in a paint program.

Yes Pantera, i use the version of script posted in this topic.
I think the problem is the "balance" of colors and gradients generated into the Terragen.

Is possible you send the TGS (or TGW i dont remember) file you use to make your sky to i verify your definitions ???

No it is not. The problem is that the top texture has been rendered with a bad rotation of the camera. The top texture is the correct image, its just flipped or rotated.

Render a scene with distinct clouds and you will see clearer how your top texture should be aligned.

Bjarne,

When i rotate the image in PhotoShop, he cause a error in MOH:AA Engine and dont load the map. You can tell me why is correct angle to capture "up" frame (remember i get the script to execute in Terragen) ????

The script in the tut worked for me, but if you get this error from it:
Try changing:

Code: Select all

CamH          0
CamP          90
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
..to:

Code: Select all

CamH          180
CamP          90
CamB          0
Zoom          1
frend
...if that does not work, try using:

Code: Select all

CamH          90
or

Code: Select all

CamH          270
... I think its the 90 that goes upward, else try the -90 entry.

Make sure you don't make mistakes yourself before correcting someone else. ;)
