i dont know were fungus lives, but were i am from,if you put water on the snow it doesnt freeze in ten seconds but pretty close.and all it does is turn the snow into slush for very very short time, then it becomes ICE.so this moron was just putting a slab of ICE on his front yard, wich would make the peoples job alot harder to come fix his pipes(if thats what was wrong)

@ fungus.water is above freezing but in below freezing tempatures it freezes very quickly.so actually he was causing a bigger problem than just having shovelable snow, now has a froze slab of ice and even harder ground than b4.

just like if you throw a bottle of water in a fire.just cause its water doesnt mean the fire wont effect it.just like outside, its so cold that lil bit of hose water wont do much...well were i live at least..it gets pretty cold 8-)

I lived in Florida, as a boy, and we woud turn on the sprinklers to protect plants from below freezing air tempretures. The plants can stand freezing, but not below freezing. So, the ice protected them.

i live in Montana, when it snows and gets below freezing here, the grass is a goner, nobody cares. the pipes are specially built or something, i've never had pipes freeze on me here in 3 winters. been to latitudically similar places like Illinois and the pipes never froze there in 5 years... i guess i wouldnt appreciate trying to keep pipes unfrozen because i've never had it happen :P
so this moron was just putting a slab of ICE on his front yard, wich would make the peoples job alot harder to come fix his pipes(if thats what was wrong)
ice can be a great insulent, but it needs below freezing temperatures to keep right.. think of the igloos. that might have worked, but the slab of ice for a yard... hmm.. not a dream for me.
