Cambodia Docks

Post by Mj »

Well, its been an age since i made anything vaguely releasable - so I made a new map, and hopefully i will be able to release it on the 'morrow.

I haven't played it, so I have no idea what the gameplay is like, but one thing i can tell you is the FPS is pretty abysmal... hopefully it shall improve after a ful vis compile, but i can only hope;

Apologies in advance to Bdboger, who doesnt like big screenshots :P

If the screenshots appear too dark, just brighten your monitor a taj

Anyhow, post some feedback,

Mj

Looks quite well. :) Some more enterable buildings would be nice. :P Can you swim in the sea or have you placed a kill trigger in there?

The lighting looks great! You should ask everyone at .map to help with the vis. Have you added any vis_leafgroups or area portals?

Thanks guys :)

About the water, its fully enterable, but all enterances out to the sea are blocked. Also its possible to climb along all the roofs and up to the big wires using the lights cables... so i've had to playerclip around the entire map  I think if I added more enterable buildings... that would be too much like work, methinks

I'm attemting a full compile as we speak, asnd have been for the last 16 hours, and the reading (27 hours) does not to me seem particularly promising :(

I havent used any leafgroups of manual vis as I have no idea really how to use them, and most unfortunatley no compulsion to learn it... If someone is willing to do the Vis i will be more than happy to post the .map, models and textures on here. (some textures are from HiTP, some from LaCoupole - so i take no credit for them (i suck at making textures!))

If we can get this Vis issue sorted, i believe it will be a great map :D

Wow man, this looks really good. I'd love to run around this baby.

From what I can see of the map design: you are in FPS trouble... it looks like you can pretty much see all of the map from everywhere in the map. But lets wait for a full VIS compile. No need to fix it if it is not broken :)

The compilers can be set up to compile on a distributed system over multiple CPU:s / computers. I'd guess EA has the money to spend on a pretty powerfull compile park :)

Thanks for your comments guys :)

I'll have the beta up here tonight - i gave up on the full compile, as i need my PC to do my work... The beta includes the .map file, so anyone wishing to take anything as prefabs of such, feel free. I have some nice crates and barrels in there... Also anyone wishing to fix my vis situation...

"Bandwidth quota has been exceeded. The web site would work again after 12 hours. Members are given an initial bandwidth quota of 1000 MB monthly."

Could you just mail me a zipped version of the *.map file? I'm a bit interested in seeing what I could do in the VIS department...

Man, this is the map with the worst FPS ever... My P4 3GHz was hardly manages to go above 10 FPS... :?

About the bugs, I think you included the wrong picture as the broken bottle texture in the pk3. ;)
