work in progress: snowhill

Post by wacko »

here's some screens
This is supposed to become a wildwest style map as u can see.
At the moment pure dm/tdm (as I wont need anything more for myself) and also at the moment with cruel fps.

Now:
If anybody could add wildwest player models and/or weapons, this would be great... Or are there any somewhere?

If anybody would like to try to optimize vis or add an objective version, sp version or whatever, let me know. The whole stuff can be changed, so feel free to share ur ideas.

Wow, looks great Wacko!

How about this idea for an Obj version, have a bomb on the safe in the Bank (there is a bank isn't there, gotta keep all the gold locked up somewhere) that when it blows will make the safe open, then steal the gold bars and get them to some spot on the map back at your sides spawn area.. :)
It would be a mix of Obj, Tow and CTF all in one game..

yes, wildwest skins (and models :? ) would be awesome, maybe colts and rifles, too 8-)
You know who could do them?

atm, I must do something about the performance, deleting a bunch of brushes (and replacing them with custom textures) and trying to add vis leafgrous (no idea where though). Once this is done, I'll publish a beta pk3 and u can give it a try :)

Wow that looks really great Wacko  definately excellent mapping :)

For the weapons best try to get in touch with Mainframe (not sure if he's still around)... I think he's modelled a true armada of weapons though :)

snow?

Why is it called Snowhill--looks like sand to me? It needs some Joshua trees, tumbleweed, and cactus for the western look.

errr, in 1843, next to that place, there happend a very rare weather sensation caused by a overeager medicin man who was exercising his rain dance. Accidently, there were some immigrants from Switzerland looking for a new place to live, were fooled by what they saw, decided to stay and, well, gave this place the hopeful name Snowhill.

Cactus I have some, but I might add some more of them. Joshua trees are those on the U2 album?! And tumbleweed is something I'd like to add indeed. Depends on how big their impact on performance will be. Atm, fps are so low that I don't need anything more that is moving, but I'm still hoping.

tumbleweeds are easy, but a model for them would be absolutely the best.

but you probably knew that :)

Joshua trees are like palm trees i think, when i move to Arizona i'll let you know :P

Joshua trees I found billions in google 8-) . For the trees, I don't want to add models... too many polys already. I'm planning to use masked textures with a 'deformVertexes autosprite2' in the shader. This should do it...
For the tumbleweed, maybe I can combine it with a 'tcMod rotate' command :? Dunno, as long as fps are so bad, I don't waste much time thinking about them.
If it was just to have some gimmicks in the map, there already is the tipper ride, the trapdoor at the gallows, swinging doors at the saloon and a squeeking windmill which ought to be enough

well.. i think horses is overboard. but tumbleweeds are a good idea i think. you dont need tornadoes of them, just maybe 2 or 3 a minute.
