Pull your desk away from the wall a bit and let the monitor hang over the back. I use a Microsoft Natural keyborad (curved top) and it requires 10 inches of desk space. My desk is only 24 inches deep--that leaves only 14 inches for my 18 inch long monitor. So, My desk is 5 inches from the wall.

My desk is 70 cm deep (about 28 inches) and my monitor is like 15 cm (about 6"), :D which leaves quite a lot of free space (LCD rocks! :D). ;)
