heres a very eay way to open the .scr files with notepad:

1) Open up notepad
2) Find the .scr file (if the .scr file is in a .pk3 then use PakScape to get it out and paste it to your desktop or where ever you want)
3) in notepad, click open (ctrl + O) and go to your desktop (or where ever you saved it to) and select the .scr file
4) click "ok" or "load" or what ever the equivelent is on ur screen
5) there ya go you should have the .scr text right there for ya

but be careful not to open screensaver files which just happen the also be .scr, may take a bit of time for your comp to pull up all the coding.

I suggest you download MOHAATools (if u havt already) and it comes with a program for scripting (its very very nice, i love it) that reads .scr files. Its easy to use and makes scripting a lil easier because it coilor codes certain commands to allow for faster debugging.

if you have

$targetname waittill trigger
targetname nottriggerasble

then "$targetname" will be red where as "targetname" will be black because the scripter forgot the "$" to indicate a targetname... I bet I just confused the hell out of you and prolly some other people... but its really simple, I highly suggest you download MOHAATools right of this site in the downloads area and get the Script Editor program that comes in the download...

Well I hope I helped! Good luck!

i found out a couple days after reading on here that if you drag the .scr file to your desktop and you have a shortcut to Notepad on your dektop also, that all you gotta do is drag the .scr file over to the notepad shortcut and itll open it just like that...beats selecting open>all files>then finding your .scr file...

lol, at first scripting looks hard as hell and it feels like you have to learn greek, roman, and some alien language just to know it lol. but in reality its quite easy! (id know )

well that actually depends on wether you opened a script file or a screensaver file.

A script will be readable text. A screensaver will be a bunch of wierd lookin characters and almost no real letters and its easy to accidently open a screensaver file b/c screensavers have an .scr file type and MOHAA scripts also have an .scr file type...
