Re: making a pit for water in your map
1) Make a pit in the lod by dragging some vertices downwards.la-folie wrote:hi my question is actually, how dou you make a pit where you can put some water in, and i dont mean any square pits but i mean LoD like, i have read the tuts but i still didn't find it, please help
2) place a brush where you want the water surface, and make sure the brush is so thick it starts under the lod and ends where you want the surface. This will be used as a water volume ( when iside that brush: bullets will leave bubble traces, and player vision will be blurred.
3) texture the bottom and top ot the brush with a water texture. And texturte the sides with common/nodraw.
4) done
thx for the xplenation but i have another problem=>> when i want to create an pit inside my map it dissapears under my floor, and when i try to flip it it come appearing, how do y make sure ttat the pit is vissible in my floor of the map and how can y make the textures smoothely (the textures from te pit and the texture from my floor)so you cant see the transition of the textures

Use no draw on all of the sides of the water brush.
Use water texture on the top and bottom.
Select individual sides by ctrl-shift- Lclick
Be sure to set ur surface properties for the water brush.
The no draw should be below ur lod surface, only the top of the water brush should be exposed.
I understand what ur trying to do, U need to replace the floor brush with a patch mesh so you can pull some vertices down for ur ponds.

Just to (try to) make things clear (if they aren't already): U will have to cut a square hole into ur existing floor brush and put the piece of LoD in this hole (else u would have to make the LoD 1st go up from the edges and then go down to the center again, which would be like a little circular rampart...). Take care not to open ur skybox this way, the hole, well, is a hole and the LoD won't seal it.la-folie wrote:thx for the axplenation, but what i want i actually putting a pond or something like that into my earlier made floor of my map(an flat brush)without dissapearing underneath it, when i try to make an pond or pool using LoD it just dissapears into my "main" floor and also i want to make sure that you dont see the transition of the "main" floor and the texture of the pool, so i hope you can help me
