New map

Post by Nezzi »

Greetings all,

There are some really nice looking screenies posted here, I kinda feel out of place posting any of the maps i do here cause I dont think they are quite as good as the ones you guys make:( anyway, posting a few of shots from the lat two maps i've done/am working on. Still have to do some lighting and details tdm/obj/ffa, I average about 100 fps at any given time so I think the area portals/vis groups are well placed. The part that took forever was rendering the stinking terragen skybox lol, about 12 hours for each angle....

The first few screenies are dark, so it was hard to see what was going on, but the last few (the outside ones with the custom sky) look really great. Keep us updated!

Very good! very nice work... you seem to have the non-90degree thing that usually occurs in town maps under control, but how are FPS? that seemed to have a lot of sloping angles and such, it looks good but does it play good?

Wow! Impressive!

BTW what's your system like? Terragen renders take about 15 min for each angle on full detail for me, and I've got a PIV 3GHz & 512 MB of RAM...

Nezzi, i don't think you need to worry about that...the screenies look absolutely amazing, and once again, after playing 11th Flotilla, i have no doubt that theses maps will be just as good if not better...keep it up, i'll be waiting to play that shizzle soon!

Is it just me or does it look like you were on acid? ;) Quite a weird farplane colour. :?

Great job! :) You could just try to get rid of the tile effect you can see in the 3rd screenshot.

looking quite nice :D
some things I wonder whether... :?
1st picture set:
@ pic #2: I hope the canal doesnt run straight and visibly into the skybox but does end somewhere hidden behind something?!
2nd picture set
@ pic#1: what is this triangle cut out o the walkway?!
@ pic#3: at the large stone walls u might think of putting some supporting walls, decals, another ivy or whatever, they look a bit too tily
@ pic#4: the bridge I'd change to stone and/or metal. A wooden bridge wouldn't have these huge towers... And, if it was a hanging bridge, why would it have the supporting pillars?

The night pics are just too dark for me to make out anything except the blue farplane. It seems really close to me, but I'd have to look at it ingame.

The second map I think has a lot of nice architecture and detail. I actually really like that purple-pink farplane color. But I don't think it matches the green tinting in your skybox. I would keep the farplane as is, and colorshift the skybox.

I agree that the brick wall in the third screenshot needs some more details thrown on to break up the tile effect. Aside from that, it's lookin' great. :)

I'll be sure to place little signs about the place telling you what everything is ;)

simple, i wanted wood, huge stone bridge would look bad, as with metal, ans just what would a wood bridge have?

Is it just me or does it look like you were on acid?

lol, thats helpfull, could of at least said make the bridge plastic or something ;) put the crack pipe down, slowly walk away.....

it's just that its looking rather like an error than intentional :?

imho, it'd have a wooden construction at both ends. I like the towers and I like the bridge, they (imho again) just don't go together well.
