STRICT parents...

Post by k47a »

Listen to that:
I got up this morning (Sunday): First thing my mom told me: You won't play that war game *chriegsspiili* (that is MOHAA) anymore on Sundays, 's that clear?!

Okay, I don't know how you think about that: Is Sunday so "holy" that you mustn't play an explosive tag?
My parents aren't very strict, but when it comes to "killing" ppl (or just freezing them), they just don't seem to get it.
How's that with yours? Do they even care what games you play?

My mom doesn't give a f**k. My dad used to check everything I played when I was like 10 years old (he had said I might not tell the difference between reality and games :?), but now he says I'm mature enough to separate virtual reality from real reality. 8-)

Today's Sunday and I've been playing SH once again in the morning - my dad watched the parachute jump. :P

I 've never heard of parents forbidding to play chriegspiili just on Sundays... They have no problem with you playing these games on other days? [whith a shake of the head] Catholics?

Damn, I'm 20!! I dunno what they think! Well, it seems to me that they truly have a wrong conception of the game. I mean that's what it is: A GAME, no? Maybe they think that "killing" ppl in a game's got something in common with real killing. And, I only play MOHAA MP, so that's really not a gory game; I ain't even got a blood mod...
I guess my mom fobid it 'cause I didn't do too much for university... I should finish my report on the Sovjet POWs. I don't need to hurry with this in fact, but my parents think that I'm just somewhat lazy and play to much games :?

In fact, I started gaming very late - the first game I bought was MOHAA, and that's not so old. When I visit my bro he lets me play PS or XboX the whole night and day. I thought gaming on the PC sucks, as you can't sit on the sofa :D or have a drink and play (I spilled coffee in the keyboard once and don't think it liked it very much...)
But now as I've discovered MOHAA MP and esp. mapping for MOH, hey, I just get stuck 'fore the PC...

Geez, no! No catholics!! But I'm not allowed to wear my Russian camo jacket on Sundays either  . They don't like it at all no matter what day it is...
I really dunno what's gotten into them, but I know that messing with 'em about games is definitly NOT GOOD - my mom would manage to hide the CD (lmao)...
Anyway, I'm better off playing when nobody's 'round (I can waste the whole day with MP)...

Btw, when I had my own flat, honestly, do you think I'd do anything at all for my studies? Well, I don't think so. I always need some control and a kick in the ass to get things done!

PS: I have the impression that they like BiA, only when they see dead Krauts, it's like: Omg, you killin' kids?!
PPS: But, I must say that my dad's damn proud of me mapping!! :D

My parents just worry about me being on the PC so much! (I have assumed the title of 'mushroom'... though i tell them i'm really a fun-guy (hehehe... no?))

But I think they have accepted the fact that Mapping is my hobby, and my dad is quite impressed with the things I do (which is always nice :))

If it's not their religion, I really can't understand why u're not allowed to play on Sundays :? . If they'd say that u must not play until this or that report or whatever is done, well, that'd make sense...
Anyway, as a suggestion, do MP over the week and just mapping on Sundays. This ought to be fine for them?!

Well, I can understand your parents (to a point) if you end up sitting on the computer all day long playing mohaa and do nothing else. But if that's not the case, then they need to lighten up and let you enjoy your weekend however you choose.

My parents have always let me figure out what i like, when i was 7 i decided i loved comps (more specifically, vid games) and they were fine with that.

They watched me until maybe two years ago then i could do basically what i wanted. It's nothing big for me, kinda like walking downtown on my own

as for killing people, i explained the whole process of making these "people" from 3dsmax/maya o skinning to animation to programming their thoughts, when they saw i didn't think of them as people they were fine with me shooting demons and Germans.

Thanks guys, that might help...
That's that deal: I live at home, they pay for me and my studies and I help in the househole (lmao) go with the dog, stuff like this - and do more or less what they tell me. I won't mess around with 'em - that would only result in "banning" :D

They're always scared that maybe I'm lazy and don't work for university. But, hey, studying Slavics and medicine is different, right?! (We know ppl whose kid studies med and he has to work for it all day long whereas (?) my parents never seem to see me working for university...
That somehow makes them going nuts, but, I think they just care and worry too much...
And, another problem might be that when I was younger I never forgot things, did everything I had to immediately - in liebes Kindli halt...
That's changed: I'm sometimes lazy, often forget things... Don't know why...

About killing ppl: They sure know it's just a game... But, both of my parents are very interested in WW2 so they seem to see a connection between the Krauts I kill in the game and real German soldiers I'd be killing as GI... They always wonder why I'm interested in the subject anyway and I can't explain why... They ask me, what's so fascinating about that game and when I tell them that it's simply GREAT FUN, they don't believe me. Maybe they're afraid of me becoming a couch potato... (hell, as if I wouldn't do other things!!!)
Maybe I should show 'em this thread...

PS: Hey, imagine, right now I'm sitting in fronta my PC (lol), typing my report (!!!) and finish it before it finishes me off... I had planned to hand it over to the prof today... (just because I can put the date June 6 on it *smile*)
