Sun doesn't light properly

Post by Curgny »

Not mapping for a long time seems to cause problems..
Ran a search for it, but didn't find any suitable threads about this problem. If it has been discussed, sorry.

The problem is, I'm using ambientlight and suncolor, yet when I compile map, the lighting is messed up..
Here are the screenshots to describe the problem:

These pictures turned out pretty dark...Ok, for those who don't understand the problem: the problem is, that some brushes are lighted yet some next to them aren't..That makes some brushes pretty dark and leave ugly effect.
Ok, on these pictures there isn't any ambientlight, but with ambientlight the problem stays and it doesn't change much..I have tried using only ambienlight, but I want to make the map have sunrise effect..

1st thing you need to know, is MoHLight sucks

You could try altering your light compile settings (in MBuilder) or changing the lightmapdensity of the offending brushes (in the 'S' texture tool under 'density')

Or, bevel your corners to make it less obvious :)

Code: Select all

   l l
   l l
   l l
   l l
   l l_______________
   l /
   l/_________________

lol, Wacko I need ASCII lessons! :D

use | for verticle lines, _ for horizontal, and capital letters when spelling big letters out :)

Most of those problems will vanish when you do a "-final" light compile. But, beveling problem corners will help a lot.
