Alright, thanks everybody. The problem I got now is that my map disappeared !!!
What happened was this: I had a slightly large custom tex in the map. When I tried to compile the map, the game just broke down (while loading). My PC looked rather messed up after that so I restarted it and tried again. Anyway, when I tried to open the map in rad, it was still there, well it's name was, but everything was gone. I had, so to say, an empty map...
I dunno where it is now. I didn't delete it or anything. It's just not there anymore...
Just what can I do now? Is it lost forever ?
when u rebuild u will find it's better the second time.
unless its one of those one off things like a sandcastle. perfect then ur bro jumps on it with a over priced football form norway. Then after u drowwed him u start to rebuild but never is it as perfect as that once. same applies for lego. The work of a thausand years is nothing but rubble. Mapping and 3d modeling though its totaly diff, erent the more u do the better it is:D
open the .map file in notepad and see if it is gone or not . If you try to open a bad .map file it will load until it finds a problem so some of it may load but as soon as it gets to the problem it stops . You can actually fix it in notepad some times by deleteing the bad brush for example . Also you can see if you have a .bak file if you do rename it to .map extention and see if it is any better for you .
How did you start mohradiant ? I had that when I tried to pin it to the start menu in windows to fix it I had to make a shortcut icon and pin that to the start menu . I guess you can also goto the right directory on your hard drive and double click the mohradiant.exe icon as well .
Rad is just in the main folder, no shortcut.
When I open rad and then try to open the .map file, nothing's there. When I open the main folder and go the .map file -> open with -> MOHrad, the error above occurs...
Btw, I was able to open the .map file in notepad - it's was quite short but there was no error message afaik...
opening rad by clicking the map file may cause the error message. u should launch rad and then open the map (as u did).
the map file in notepad ought to be not that small. If u were talking 'bout the one I saw, it should have ~450kB and over 7000 lines. Also, u'd never get error messages in these files: They are a list of all the brushes and entities and their settings, textures and they ain't a log file.
So, errr, u better look for a bak file Maybe u even have checked "snapshots" in the preferences?! Then, u'd have a snapshot folder in ur map folder where there were some backups of ur progress. If not, activating snapshots would be a good thing to do (wouldn't have snowhill without )
Nope, I don't think I got snapshots...
How can I open the .bak file? I can't open it with rad (same error occurs) and I can't open it in rad as you can't open this type of file...
Btw: when opening rad and trying to open my map, it says something like 'no worldspawn' and 'new_map'... (Damn, have you ever tried to work on a PC with a cat (Oskar) always jumping on the desk and on your keyboard trying to eat the plants on the desk?! esp. when it's losing a ton of fur everytime it jumps...)
@ wacko: yes, it's the same map... But I had the impression that the text in the notepad was much less than 7000 lines...

a .bak file is a .map file so change mymap.bak to mymap.map and then open it in radiant better yet change the name too mymap2.map or something if you don't want to delete the old one just to be safe but you probably will delete the old one.
Okay. The door works fine. Thanks, Tom!
What if I wanna do a second one like this? What about the name? And do I have to repeat the whole trap_door script?
Make the second one the same as the first, but change the targetname to flatdoor_2 and name the trigger flatdoor_2_trigger. Scripting for the door is the same as the first door, but with the changed targetnames.
