About time somebody restarted this and seeing as i'm the only one left who managed it i decided i'd try.

This is a new competition, competition 3.

Specs:

THEME: Dungeon or Subterranean
TIME LIMIT: 2 weeks, or 14 days.
MINIMUM COMPETETORS: 3

CRITERIA:

Texturing---------------X/20     (Is the texturing clean and looks nice?)
Architecture------------X/20      (Is it well-built or is it a box )
Performance-------------X/20      (Is the FPS good?)
Fun---------------------X/10    (Is it fun to play around in?)
Theme-------------------X/10      (Did it stay true to the theme?)
Creativity--------------X/10     (Was it original?)
Scripting - bonus-------X/5      (Is there any cool stuff or nice features?)
Custom - bonus----------X/10      (Any new stuff?)
Audio - bonus-----------X/5       (Any sounds besides default?)
The major criteria are worth 20, the minor criteria are worth 10. both add up thugh, and to make a good map you'll want both. Bonus are worth 5 (not deducted), To encourage new content from the community, i put custom high on the list.
Theme: This is what the map needs to be based around, such as best cave map (like last time), or best small manor.

TIME LIMIT: The time contestants are given from start to finish of their map. Any entries turned in after the deadline are not counted. (deadlines will be in GMT)

MINIMUM COMPETETORS: Last tiem only one person entered, and thus won. this time it will be a true competition with more than 3 competetors.
I'll be a judge, but we need a couple more. Perhaps 2 or 3. Judges get mad props for being as cool as they are :mrgreen:

A lot of this is UFN, meaning since it's a community project the community should decide the details.

Hosting is strongly appreciated, meaning if you could host your map somewhere and provide a link it's very much helpful. I personally have an inbox that's filled with spamware so i'd like it if i could just click a link, d/l, extract, and judge.

There are various places for hosting, 1asphost is a great place to go.

jv_map has a small agreement with PMOH and if you cant find hosters elsewhere PM him.

Restrictions:

No starting the map before the actual start of the contest. i have ways of knowing.

Do not make a plagerized map, in other words don't take Remagen and change one brush and submit it. this is a competition of ORIGINAL mapping skill.

Content published on the web will not count towards custom score. Custom is stuff made by you or previously unpublished. Custom stuff isnt restricted though, so go wild putting anything you can find, but be sure to make notes of what custom stuff you put in in a readme or something.

Right now the theme isnt decided, it could be an overall theme, map whatever you want. or it might be "best castle".

atm i think we're deciding the UFN ones, like time limit and theme ;)

EDIT: Alright to get the ball rollin, how about a 2-week time limit (14 days) and "Best Overall"?

This is tentative ;)

Best overall is too hard to judge IMO. It becomes comparing apples to pasta...

Well lets have some more ideas, i'm liking the underground thing. perhaps a sewer system or cave structure? you can be creative and carve buildings out of the stone, that'd be original.

need...interest...in...competitions!

what i meant was havng a map with many secrets, and a counter that told how many hadbeen uncovered :)

i like the dungeon idea, but its kind of hard to make a scary map...
