Half a word wouldn't be a problem for him, but she's across the Great Water, Lizard. ;)

I don't totally agree. Love is an emotion, and you can't have true emotions towards items, can you? :?

"To make a man happy, he needs two things; Love and Work. Love he can find for himself, but work ust be found for him."

Yeah, its all in the mind... ficticious it isn't.
Also, I guess it does vary from person to person - but I couldn't tell, as I am only one person.

"I truly feel that there are as many ways of loving as there are people in the world and as there are days in the life of those people." Mary Calderone

Soppy thread? Its the same as talking about, say, perception of violence, but with a different subject matter...
Although you cannot (well i hope not) fall in love with an object, you can get into a state of higher happyness by utilising the object; I map. I guess its the same with the opposite sex, we 'use' them to make us happier. But if they get something out of it too, its ok :)

We see (in my deluded opinion) through our perception. To begin with, everything is beautiful; as nature is. Even those gigantic man made monoliths are natural, as they are made by us, and we are natural. Enter William Blake - "If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is: Infinite." Infinite in beauty. But these objects and items and people are passed through our perception; which is built from our knowledge, our stlyes, our bias, out memories - and we see the faults in everthing. Love, my experience was of that perception being taken away - no longer were there any faults, only infinite beauty.

"Oh! love!... That is to be two and to be but one. A man and a woman mingled into one angel. It is heaven." Victor Hugo

I'm not sure how this little crazy philosophy comes into play with love of work, and love of anything else, but... Hmm I'm rambling.

"Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Tennyson

Its... an experience. Not one I would repeat in a hurry, however. Well, I would if it wasn't for the whole losing thing :(

Urm, anyway... Excuse all the edits, I keep adding things :)

lol Elg, -everything- is brain chemistry. Love, anger, irritation, happiness, sadness, it can all be traced easily back to primal reasoning.
Yeah, its all in the mind... ficticious it isn't.
Welll...

Every emotion is just a chemicle or two hitting the right spot in the brain. so no, it isnt fictitious. but no, it's not anything special. love is just as easily conjured by an apt hypnotist or chemist as is anger, as drugs prove.

When you get to beauty, it truly becomes "eye of the beholder" (that phrase takes on worlds of new meanings in D&D) Which has to be the weirdest perception the human mind is capable of, and i can't explain it.

But for the base emotions, they're tools for your subconciousness to keep you alive, we just don't need them anymore, unless you're in the ghetto.

the brilliance of some minds on this site scares me sometimes lol. Ya i literally spend every waking momment of my life on my computer unless im sleeping over my friends house once or twice a month or if my dad comes over for like an hour or 2. I DEFINATLY have an unhealthy addiction to my computer and all its progs and apps. If a nade flew threw my window my natural reflex would say "DEFEND THE COMPUTER AT ALL COSTS!!!".

I believe that love is truly caused by just some "chemicals hittin the right spot in the brain" but i think the reason for the existance of these chemicals is the human minds natural need to be at least semi-social if not full out social. I think a person "loves" in order to not be alone or feel alone. Thus in turn i think it is actually possible to fall in love with an object if it brings happiness and/or a sense of company and comfort to a person.
