Preview. My next map

Post by CypheR »

Hello. i woke up this morning and felt like showing off a bit... so i'll just present you with a few shots of my next map... it's about 40% complete, so anything you'll see could change. eye candy stuff is yet to be added, layout isnt completed yet. so here we go with the shots:

first screen is the "center piece" of the map as it was when i first started on this map

Now lets take a look at the terrain a bit

note that these were taken et different stages of the map construction...so layout varies from one shot to another

truly some good work, i love how you did the cathedral, brilliant architecture. the whole layout doesnt look haphazard like so many maps these days, it looks like it's entirely possible and well laid out, my congratulations!

although it look incredibly big. this would definitely be a 64 man map if it's as big as i think it is/

also brilliant job on the fps, that's amazing to have such a big map and so much fps.

all in all, my compliments :D

Wow! Great job, I love the rock formations! :) There are just a few lighting errors on the road, I hope they will be fixed by the final light compile.

This looks very promising, looking forward to playing it. ;)

Very nice, wonderful brush terrain, well done :)
One thing i would say of the cathedral is that the upper windows are too large - they look a little unnatural. Also, the cathedral door needs a 'lining' as it looks just like a hole in the wall at the moment. Great work on the stained glass - maybe some coloured and angled pointlights could be directed from them in co-ordination with the sun? Certainly a light ray effect would go down a treat.
That wood stairway - the one with the torch - looks ugly at the moment. Try making each a plank and build supports, as in 'The Crossroads' - that would be superb.
Great work on the destruction - that pile of rubble is truly inspiring, well done.
The mesh tunnel is great with the lighting - and nice to see the bricks cut to the texture, always a good trick.
The town bit looks great too, if a little generic, but thats nothing to worry about
It isnt actually as large as it seems - i hope you have factored in enough routes, counter routes, and cross routes to keep the game flowing.

Meh, enough - i have a room to paint :(

man...wouldnt a map-off competition between Nezzi and Cypher be a good one...not only would 2 good mappers go head to head, but we'd get 2 new maps to play and MJ could finally get back to work on reviewing them as well...no pun intended MJ! :D
