area portals

how do i fix these i looked at all my area portals and they are exactly like how the tutorials should me how.


WARNING: areaportal brush 296 doesn't touch two areas

Make sure that the area you are attempting to seal off doesn't have any windows/views that lead to another area that isn't being sealed.

You should also double-check and make sure that you don't have any misaligned brushes. For area portals to work, the sealed area must be airtight, so to speak.

according to the tut you can't have any other entities. Does that include like card tables, chairs, piano (static models). If so that was the problem....

You can have entities within area portals, anyways all brushes surrounding the portal should be structual, also no visible caulk faces within the portal (one side textured, not all), the portal brush should extend into the frame of the door, up, down, and side to side.
As said before nowindows are permited.

Use the filter function in radiant, filter out detail brushes, entities, liquids, patches and terrain ( as non of these block VIS ). Now it should be easy to spot the hole.

i followed the one on this site.
it was because it was touching caulk.... whoops
