SOCOM 3

Post by Jack Ruby »

I just got a brief today to make a website for the SOCOM 3 game.

I've never played any socom, is it any good?

I heard its team based, like you can aim your guys at places.

Anyways, I will do all my research into the game, as for the website, it is meant to be rolled out in stages, the site will expand over the months to finally become socom central, the only socom site everyone wants to visit.

Well thats what they asking for, so what would you all like to see on your fave games site, what do would you all really like to see if you had control do do it? Maps, skins, forum, news, videos, exclusive downloads, competitions???

Make a list and let me know.

cheers

Is it a PC game? the last two SOCOM's were PS2, i expected SOCOM3 to be PS3... in that case new maps and skins and such wouldnt be possible. but if it was PC yes, those would be good additions.

maybe a tactical database? good things to do in certain maps, good plans or spots to go.

pretty much what the planetgame sites have, well-laid out forums, explnations, tips and tricks, etc.

SOCOM 3 is for PS2 only, dunno if they will make a PS3 version in the future. An army computer theme would be cool, with radar stuff and green effects / lettres and a bit of disturbance through the screen.

Yeah I think it is for ps2 only :(

im pretty sure there is an online multiplayer feature.

I guess maps and skins are out then.

I get the idea that the developers main boast is that its got realistic weapons, scenario's etc..

I really want to make something cool.

I have asked my boss to get sony to send over a copy of the game( socom2 cos 3 isnt ready yet), think my boss is gonna buy the console.

One idea that we came up with was:

when you land on the site, its actually say for example a Florist website, you can order flowers and get them delivered, but say you hit a special key combination CTRL ALT 4 or something, the webpage opens up to reveal a covert socom site.

Is that a stupid idea or would you feel kinda cool that you are one of the few in on the underground socom site???

Yeah the traffic thing could be an issue, but we gonna be making a viral movie or something to go with it, maybe some ads in magazines, billboards etc..

So, if we can get our secret key strokes thing advertised in a clever way in other places maybe we can get some hits, its a hard choice to make, we got a couple of weeks to come up with a plan.

This looks like the game I bought in 1999, ( US Navy Seals) I got home and plugged it in and it sucked soooo bad that I tried to return it...of course they wouldn't, so I went home and threw it against the wall.

It had the same logo as Socom......was this out for the pc back then?

The covert site thing is awesome, brilliant even...

for a non-commercial site.... you'll have to have alot of balls and alot of advertising skills to get alot of traffic at a site where someone has to do more then type www.yaddayaddayadda.com... cause honestly, alot of people can barely do that.

Sounds a bit like the fabled www.ilovebees.com thing they did for Halo. But it needs to be a lot bigger than just a site to make an impact I think...

That site looks cool bjarne, im gonna take some time to go through it over the weekend.

more than just a site? so what do you want from the site ( well at least if it was a game you absolutely had to own a copy of )

Hog, I will let you know what I think of it when I get a copy of it.
I've not played console for a long time.

edit: after reading those reviews hog, im not looking forward to playing it, but the least I can do is my best to give someone thats interested they enjoy their time at the website. well thats the plan

Just ment that ilovebees was a complete ongoing campain that was a game in itself. Involving real people waiting in telephone booths for secret messages after having decoded stramge disturbing messages on the I love bees site.

I basically ment that it was a bigger undertaking than just a site, involving a staff of people. :D And its a cery cool concept.
